I think they signed him because they know he is ready to play professional hockey, whether it is in here in Rochester or up in Buffalo. The simple fact that there is nowhere to improve and develop in Vermont as opposed to being able to play and train with professionals and actual competition is most likely the reason he chose to forgo Vermont (my opinion). Lindy commented that he had a body and skillset to play professionally right now... so they want to develop him at a professional pace. Zemgus seems like a guy who wants a challenge, its in his character. Big fan of that!

Fixed...
I despise Weber...

Oh trust me, I don't think he should be anywhere near this team. But the reality is that he is probably going to be a 7th d for the Sabres this year.

I agree.. Weber is actually not a bad 7th dman to have around.. he has experience.. he is defensive minded...

I think that if we do happen to trade away Leo or Sekera for a Forward.. that McNabb would get hte invite to the top 6 and Weber stays as the scratch.

oh i'm not standing up for him by any means...

the guy did have the 3rd most hits on the team and only played 50 games. Thats sad for our team or shows just how much he likes to use his body.

I have a soft spot for the dmen that throw the body alot.

I'd prefer Leino - Girgensons - Ott

Ott can even take draws and then let Zemgus play the center role. The biggest problem is where Leino fits - - doubt anyone will take him in a trade and it would send a horrible message if Leino was sent to Rochester after one season.

Someone said that when Leino was asked who were the two players he would like to play on a line with, he said Kaleta and Gerbe because of how hard they worked every shift. The scouting report on Ott is that he never takes a shift off and Girgensons gives it his all every shift. Ott and Girgensons also hit and will battle in the corners, opening up Leino for offensive chances; these two have the same work ethic as Kaleta and Gerbe, but with much more talent.

I'd give Grigorenko a ten game tryout and drop Girgensons back to the fourth line during those ten games; Grigorenko is talented and showed it during the practices at development camp, but seemed to struggle in the scrimmage (except for threading the needle on an assist in the third period). In the post game interview, he admitted that it was his first game since recovering from mono. I say let him work for the next summer, show up to camp and preseason, and then see how he fares against the real pro's during those first ten games.

I don't think it's that crazy. He only revitalized an entire franchise and helped build back the city of New Orleans after Katrina.

The money is crazy...but I think for everything he has done it is worth it.

IMO no professional athlete is worth more than 1.5 mill a year period let alone 40 Million in one year. Meanwhile taxpayers support the team and the stadium, meanwhile classrooms are short on books and poverty in rampant in Loouisiana. Dont mean to start a politcal debate, but I'm just saying.

t

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement on a five-year, $100 million contract that all sides concur will guarantee Brees an NFL-record $60 million, including a first-year take in 2012 of $40 million, according to league, players union, and team sources.

How do you figure on this amount? some athletes are worth much more in terms of the revenue they bring into a franchise.
