What a stupid comment........with each free agent signing, the more Luongos contract looks like peanuts.....

10 years blah blah blah......any fan with a quarter of a brain knows that any team (including Vancouver) will not be on the hook for more than 5 years.

Its just the layman sheep that chugs down the daily media propaganda that Luo's contract is sooooo bad. If we don't get a decent deal, we keep Luo....I don't expect the moon but a reg hockey deal should suffice for an elite goalie......we will not take back poop, hence this saga dragging out......

- chompsey

If he is such an elite goalie and his contract is a good one then why hasn't he been traded? If he had a 5yr contract at 6-7 million it would be a hockey trade, but with his age, contract, and questions about not looking so good in the playoffs makes it not a hockey trade. More like a salary dump for a good overpaid player.

You just signed your backup goalie for a big contract, add in Lu's and you will have the most expensive backup goalie in the league sitting on the bench. Take your best offer and forget him. Very few teams need a first string goalie, not may can afford his contract, your options are very limited.

Getting closer though

Dwight King but I highly doubt and I mean HIGHLY doubt he is available.

EDIT: Richardson will turn out to be a Purcell or a Moulson on a different team.....Watch.

Problem is that is what we're missing in the pipeline. Size on the wings.

I dont want to trade King

And LA isnt. It would be Bernier and Richardson that would be gone and even Lewis possibly.

Then why hasn't he been traded to Florida? Or do they also think Vancouver is asking for way too much?

Good then keep him! Would rather give Reimer another shot than be stuck with a horrible contract for the next ten years.

Eklund, How do you have buffalo at 10% interest for Alex Semin on the rumor chart, when darcy regier said publicly that he has not contacted Semin's agent and is not interested in him at this time? Also, how do you not have Buffalo interested in Doan on the rumor chart when darcy regier, again said publicly, that we in fact have been in contact with his agent?

The Rangers should inquire about Heatley, who could still give you 30 goals and wouldn't cost as much as Nash i don't think. For Stepan, DZ, low 1st I'd pull the trigger on Nash and figure the center thing out with a FA like Hecht or maybe deal for Stastny.
- Ranger71

Be Careful what you ask for.. you just may get it. You are better off with Heatley

Ha ha...haven't heard that before...

I was serious though, who are the Leafs going to sign for more than 5 years?

(And i'm not saying the Flames have a bunch of guys either.)

- The-O-G

Kessel, Gardiner, JVR just to start...

Ok, so in your opinion, what would it take from the Leafs to get Lu?

Would like to see Gillis drop his price for Luo and just get a deal done so everyone can move on. This is going to end up biting him in the ass when he still hasn't moved Luo and the season is tarting. I would have taken Schenn and a pick for him from TO.

Wrong

"I think playing in a hockey market is great," said Luongo. "Playing in one is a preference for sure. Playing in a place like Florida with anonymity - to go out somewhere and have a dinner with your family and relax and stuff is great. When you're on the ice, being able to play in a building that's rocking, sold out and the fans are passionate about their team - as a hockey player you always want to be in that type of market."

Voracek, Read, Bourdon AND picks for Ryan?!! Are you high?!!! I honestly wouldn't trade Voracek strait-up for Ryan at this point. Who cares that he is from Cherry Hill? Big deal! YOU DON'T GIVE UP MULTIPLE GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS FOR 1 GOOD YOUNG PLAYER WHO HAS UNDERACHIEVED, IMO, ESPECIALLY IF TWO OF THE GUYS YOU ARE GIVING UP HAVE TO POTENTIAL TO BE AT LEAST AS GOOD, IF NOT BETTER, THAN THE PLAYER YOU ARE GETTING IN RETURN. What has Bobby Ryan ever won? Where are his gold medals? If Holmgren pays this price or something similar for Bobby Ryan, I'm done watching them!

Maybe there are a few UFA's still out there that both clubs are looking at that could be holding up a deal.

Still thinking that Burke will outwait the Canucks on Luongo, the way he hung on to Tomas Kaberle until someone got desperate and gave him a first rounder (albeit a low one)....Only risk is that Florida will get crazy and pay Vancouver's price....In which case there are still goaltending options possibly available (Bernier, Enroth) that are probably a better fit anyway.....

Regarding Ryan: still think Murray should hold out for Couturier in any deal for Ryan (assume B. Schenn is off the table due to trade for L. Schenn).....Couturier was very impressive as a teenager last year, but in the grand scheme of things will he ever be more than a strong #2 center - especially with Schenn ahead of him ? And in Ryan, you are getting a consistent 30-goal winger in his prime....while Voracek and Read are good players, Ryan should be worth more.....

* I am hearing rumors the Leafs were in on Mueller who signed in Florida today for 1.7. Love what Tallon is doing and Mueller might open up some more options to get Luongo done.
- Ek

So Mueller chose FLA over TOR.
Wait! How can that be possible!? This rumour must be false.

I would think Couturier is ahead of Schenn at this point. Considering Schenn hasn't made much of an impact in the NHL yet and Couturier is already Laviolette's favorite penalty killer as an 18 year old.

It might also be brent burns i remember long back they liked him whwn he played for minnesota wild. but thats a huge contract at 5.7MIL a year. theres no way the this current managemwnt have longed for any of the dmen considering the are all brand new. i would love to see vlasic but doubt it considering he just signed a new deal. and im not willing to part with tinordi. beaulieu or subban
