As for Luongo, would the Canucks trade him for Huberdeau straight up? - Ranger71
In a heartbeat. There is no way Tallon makes that trade though. I would love to trade Lu for Bjustad, staight up. |

i'll give you that with komi but at the time was it really that bad (salary yes, but as a player?) he didnt live up to anyone's expectations but that's a Komi thing not a Burkie thing...evey team has players that don't pan out...- imo the kessel deal isnt a bad one...but lets leave that one alone...lol - Dee13
The komisarek deal i was actually looking forward to when first signed since he played very well in montreal and was a tough defender. On another note, burke took a gamble on kessel thinking we wouldnt come in last or close to last and be close to playoffs |

And this is why burke doesnt give no more
Than a 5 year deal to players - Mapleleafs_91
That's because none of the Leafs are valuable enough to garner more than a 5 year deal. |

What about Edmonton for a Paajarvi and one of their top defensive prospects? - Ranger71
IDK
It could possibly work.
LA wants a top 6 and a pick or a top prosepct and a pick. That is LA's asking price for Bernier. I dont know if a team is really willing to give up a top 6 for Bernier.
But Paajarvi and a prospect is a start I guess, I dont want Paajarvi and I doubt LA does.
I would ballpark it in that range though (Paajarvi and a D prospect doesnt sound too bad) |

Coming from a flames fan, your team is corrupt with money flying everywhere giving bad contracts left right and center for players..... Nice one. Go trade iggy and kipper
And start your rebuild already. |

I too was excited; i thought he would be that tuff SOB we needed....we can laugh our a$$ on that one now...and yee Kessle, ppl can say what they want now but no one thought the Leafs would finish that low that year...but in Kessel we got a sniper, a proven goal scorer and he's still young...his game does need to improve but you get where im coming from... |

From Toronto you're probably looking at Colborne/Kadri and a 1st maybe? |

I agree, at the time it wasn't that bad of a deal. Obviously hindsight is 20-20, but it turned out to be a bad move. Same with the Kessel deal, if Burke would have known they were gonna be trading the #2 pick (especially with Hall & Seguin in there) he might want to have that one back.
It's funny, you look at all of Burkes deals and they seem like good move and I still think they are. But then you look at their line-up and it isn't all that impressive.
He's had a couple other bad signings, Armstrong, Connoly etc.
But the Leafs do have a lot of good prospects. If they pan out his term would be deemed a success, big IF though. |

Ha ha...haven't heard that before...
I was serious though, who are the Leafs going to sign for more than 5 years?
(And i'm not saying the Flames have a bunch of guys either.) |

It is the Canucks fault, you people are so fukcing greedy! it's not good enough to have another team take away that mamoth of a contract off your shoulders and clear so much cap space, you people want the sun and the moon for him. Keep the mofo then and pay 10 mil for two goalies. - hooligoon
What a stupid comment........with each free agent signing, the more Luongos contract looks like peanuts.....
10 years blah blah blah......any fan with a quarter of a brain knows that any team (including Vancouver) will not be on the hook for more than 5 years.
Its just the layman sheep that chugs down the daily media propaganda that Luo's contract is sooooo bad. If we don't get a decent deal, we keep Luo....I don't expect the moon but a reg hockey deal should suffice for an elite goalie......we will not take back poop, hence this saga dragging out...... |
