The Rangers have DZ and Stepan to give up plus a much deeper farm system to choose from. Outside of Pavelski/Couture SJ dosen't have anyone(Clowe maybe)that is worth all that much in a trade. Their defenseman aren't all that great, plus Vlasic just re-signed. The Rangers just have more pieces.
