in your opinion what is a fair price? - Philly1980
I'd be OK if it was Voracek and a pick or MAB. I'd be OK if it was Read and a higher pick plus a prospect.
I can't agree to trade two guys in the top 9, who can do everything that Voracek and Read can do, for Ryan. |

I do Read, Voracek, Bourdon, and a few picks for Ryan in a heartbeat. It will give us a top line winger for Giroux without trading Schenn, Couturier, or hurting our defense....
Ryan-Giroux-Briere
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds
Fedotenko-Couturier-Wellwood
Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo
Timonen-Schenn
Grossmann-Coburn
Gervais-Meszaros
Maybe sign a 4th line winger/center. Wellwood to join his brother?

then you have to give read 4 million...similar production - Philly1980
Read has 2 years left on his deal, no need to worry about it now. Also, Voracek is 3 years younger than Read |

Wrong.. you have to understand where potential and projections come in..
EDIT: He is also signed for two more years... If he produces identical #'s the next two years than yes he will get a raise. |

So trading Voracek and Read who combined for 42 goals, 54 assists, and 106 points for Bobby Ryan who posted 31 goals and 26 assists for 57 points.... is a step in the right direction? ![:duh:](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/duh.gif) - jak521
yes it absolutely is. i want my third line to be a pure grit line....As far as im concerned scoring wasnt the problem. If your looking at this argument from a total point perspective than yeah it sounds dumb. I want a cheap third line....
Harts-G-Ryan
Simm-Schenn-Briere
Talbot-Couts-Rusty
Sestitio-???-Wellwood
2 scoring 1 ridiculous shut down line. Scoring wasnt the issue last year. The inability to shut down opponents was. Not having a fourth line Face off specialist was.
Also Jakes 4 mill cap hit next year in UFA is going to sting.....A lot of big and better fish in that group. |

Jake AND Read is too much IMO.
Jake + or no deal if I were Homer. - LordStanley88
Did I hear that Jake + Read + MAB + picks
AND Anaheim turned it down.
If so, you know why there is no deal made at this point.

Anaheim can suck off and keep Bobby Ryan for now, when he hits ufa he'll be gone anyway.
What a stupid idea, Voracek + Read +MAB + picks.

And you've made your top two lines very suspect defensively without Read and Voracek in them. Nobody in that top is is much more than an average defensive player and a couple are subpar.
Why not just sign Semin to play with Giroux and Hartnell, and keep Voracek with Briere and Schenn, dropping Simmonds to give more grit to the 3rd and 4th lines?

Again I completely disagree..
You have a 4th that is capable of 5 minutes a night. What would happen if the injury bug bit and you lost 2-3 forward from the top 9... you would have Sestito Wellwood and another fringe guy playing sustained top 9 minutes. You would see third line guys jumping up to top line minutes...
Also.. one "grinding shut down line" is gonna turn our team into a defensive beast?
Also, what if that beautiful crop of UFA's next year re-sign next season? |

I offer Jake and a first. If that doesnt get him oh well. You won't see a team in the league offer anything significantly more than that. |

No.
You can't just look at goals.
Voracek deserves that 4 mil because of his strong 2 way play, his tremendous puck skills, and passing. Not to mention he does pot 18+ and could easily hit 25, in my opinion.
He's only 22 or something. He's well above the curve already. Once he hits 25, he could be a hell of a player. By that time, it'll be a bargain to have him at 4 mil. He's gonna be a hell of a player.
And, I know I'm leight today with this, but stop with the Ryan bullpoop. It's ridiculous. Homer isn't going to trade away 2 main components of his future for Ryan. It's an overpayment to start, let alone the idea that we don't need him. |

No way that would get him. I'm not all gung ho about getting him either but I think it would take Jake and a 1st at this point to get him. 4 years down the road will that look like an overpayment? Probably. |

Then I don;t get him. The 2013 draft is seen as a strong one. Not trading my 1st rounder in it. |
