I'm looking forward to watching your reactions over this coming season. - Zombie
Well if those 3 come away more valuable than Eberle then we are (frank)ing extremely fortunate and I look forward to being a playoff team then... |

Then what do you hope to see out of PRV in the next year or two? what's his role considering the untouchables? - BigDre
I hope he adds a shot and better decision making to the size and brilliant skating he already has.
Its the nuances of the games he needs to figure out. Hes got the raw tools already.
Even with said untouchable players, we still have a need for a top 6 LW'er.
I dont know if yaks or hemsky are comfortable switching sides.
If he can put it together, (which could take time, or never happen) he'd be a massive piece for us at 2lw |

Having Gilbert 2.0 might not be a bad thing. - Starbuck
If that is the case then where do we sign? |

Prv cant develop furthur, but gagner will? |

PVR just needs a mean streak in him and he will be GTG! he does not have Cogs type hands... he needs work but he can learn where Cogs could not... |

Our problems have been secondary scoring and team defense. In short, our top 6 can't consistently match the other team's top 6 defensively, and out bottom 6 doesn't provide any extra punch offensively. I don't see Peter Mueller as helping either of those problems, as he's a downgrade defensively to our bottom 6, and not an upgrade defensively to our top 6, all the while not necessarily providing more offensively than our current top 6 guys. Also, It's not like him bumping a guy like Gagner or Hemsky would help our bottom 6, as they're not stellar defensive players either.
In terms of risk and reward, there's little risk financially or in terms of assets, but there would be a HUGE risk of wasting time putting guys out of position, bumping them down the depth chart or hastily trading them to even make room for a guy like Mueller. That's not a reasonable risk for either Mueller or Arnott, so I'm glad we're not bringing in either. |

Are you (frank)ing kidding... You think PRV has more value than Gagner. - Starbuck
No, im not kidding.
But I think it was all tongue in cheek back and forth trade proposals bud. So relax.
I do think its probably pretty close. Id rather prv than gags anyways.
If i was looking for a forward that could be impact, id look at potential in a trade scenario like this.
Kinda gotta in this case. Neither has dominated yet.
Imo, prvs is much higher.
Its not like gags has put up staggering numbers thus far. |

PRV doesn't use his size.... Gagner has shown steady progression, as opposed to PRV's regression. |

People love size too. Size has an insane, unfair and unreasonable premium.
I don't think either has that low value, frankly. If we play Pajaarvi for two more years in the AHL, he'll still be on a similar career path as Kyle Turris, who got moved for Rundblad and a 2nd. |

Well currently Gags is more proven but I think PVR has the higher ceiling... as he has the assets -just needs to gain confience and understanding in how to apply it... in 2 years PVR could be something we need on this team or any team for that matter...

Or at the very least, be more willing to take punishment using his skating to drive to the tough areas. Those wrist shots from way out aint goona get it done.
Im not sure he'll ever be a truly physical player, but at least use his frame better to create chances in the offensive zone |

PVR is a small sample size... and we could afford to send him back to develop... where as when gags regressed we had no one else to use so he could not be sent down... plus MacT at the time had a big hard on for lil sammie... |

He's much less physical than David Krejci, but similar offensive and defensive potential. He's less fast than Stephen Weiss, but just as much smarts and heart.
Maybe someone like David Legwand - unspectacular but won't hurt you, when surrounded by good players can look great.
Career high 65 points, never going come close to being a Selke nominee or anything, but an able player in the 2nd last shift of the game. All in all, a decent 2nd line centre. |
