I guess San Jose wasn't really an NHL team back then.

If we were to trade Gagner I don't believe signing Arnott is the answer, he doesn't bring what we need.

Say we did trade Gagner and needed to fill the 2C role, i'd put Horcoff there for a season or two. He may not be as flashy as Gagner but he has put up four 50+ point seasons, which is more than we've gotten out of Gagner in his five years. Belanger would then be the 3C, not ideal but if we are assuming we still aren't a playoff team I don't see the issue.

Perhaps more important than size (still would be nice to get bigger) in our top six, would be the will to throw hits. This is one area where I think Paarjavi will not fill in either.

I know you'll call me a homer, but unless it's Eberle for a signed Weber straight up, I wouldn't trade Eberle for anyone else in the NHL.

Stamkos? Giroux? Tavares? Doughty? Piterangelo?

I kinda agree on the Horc to 2 if Gagner gone. I would however look at bringing in someone else to help split 3rd line duties with Belanger. Be nice to have a real good 4th liner, so that it would help out Horc and Belanger.

My one question with Muller other than injuries is where would be he fit?
Here is our Forward Group
Hall-Nuge-Eberle
Yakupov-Gagner-Hemsky
Smyth-Horcoff-Jones
Eager-Belanger-Petrell
Hordichuk.

We also have guys like Lander, Harti, Paajarvi, and Vandevelde in the system that could make the jump to big leagues next year full time and I doubt Muller would want to come here to play 4th line minutes. Also, I would want to spent 2 million on a guy who might spend the whole season on the IR.

Also, looking at the stats he only scored 20 goals in the NHL once. Other than that the highest he got was 13 in 72 games. I'd rather waste that 2 million on a defensemen than another forward.

i feel the exact same way about McDonagh although i probably wouldn't even trade McD for Weber straight up as crazy and homerish as it sounds haha.

i think the rangers fanbase has fallen in love with this kid and i 100% believe he's going to become one of the best defenseman in the entire league in a few years.

WOW just boggles my brain!! Absolutely mental you guys are!! Seriously!! COSTS NOTHING! PLAYS CENTER!! Potential 25+ goal scorer!! Same age as the core!!! Has SIZE!! AGAIN why NOT??????
- undisputed_8821

Mueller has taken 397 Faceoffs in his career. 250 of them were in his first season. He had 10 last year. For reference, Gags had 700 last year. Mueller is not an NHL centre.

Of note, when he took that 250 he was 6th on the team for faceoffs taken.

Mueller was signed by the Florida Panthers 1 year $1.75 Million!! Steal and a great gamble for Florida!! WAY TO GO TAMBO and KLowe!! Another missed opportunity!!

The guy is one solid check from being unable to walk in daylight w/o pain for the rest of his life. I am happy they passed on him.

I sooner see the 40 goals than led the league in hits. Does the guy even have 100 career hits?

The guy I would love from the Rags is Dubinsky. Would work well with RNH/Gagner until they learn to take draws.

Edmonton has enough young, unproven talent that they can cycle though the lines looking for fits, why bring in another guy?
- Cornelius

Agree or not, you're missing his point.
After signing mueller, you're the free to move on of our more most valuable pieces in gagner for said dman.
The prv's and hartakainens etc. Still get thie opportunities

Really not sold on mueller though. Is he even a true center? Hes probably a better fit than arnott though.

Come again? Who is Mueller making expendable? The guy has done nothing since 07-08, pretty sure you don't acquire him and think you can move someone.

Ud have a glut of forwards. If you're choosing to sign him, then uve made the decision to give him a shot.
U probably wouldnt even bother signing him if u didnt already have a deal in place.

I think undisputed was pointing to gagner being the logical expendable piece that also has value, in this case.

U can disagree with him all u like over said player, but the strategy or gamble certainly isnt left field

Sorry but logical and making Gagner expendable because we sign a winger is probably one of the worse things that has been said on these boards in awhile.

That and the most expendable centre we have is Belanger, not Gagner.
Note that expendable does not equal tradeable

No, the start of your sentence was. It didnt make any sense.

But anyway, hes a natural center, and was moved to the wing in colorado cause they wanted him top 6 and already had duchene and stastny.

Im not arguing for mueller per se, hes an effin bandaid, but more for the reasonable argument that undisputed made.

Side note- to throw a little gas on the fire: i also think his ceiling is higher than gagners
