OMG, you're so not listening. He is brilliant and talented and capable of being Sidney v2.0 that's why everyone was jumping all over him in the offseason! He's a hot commodity for the 20-30 games a year you'd get out of him, and you can bump one of your uber-talented youth back to the AHL to make room for him, maybe RNH? Christ even Hemskey plays more than this douche, plus he's 'Merican, nuff said.

haha he's got the potential. it's like saying gagner isn't capable of scoring more than 50 points because he hasn't in 5 seasons in the show.

this is a signing that will make florida's front office look amazing if he scored 20+ goals and if he doesn't then who cares he's off the books anyway.

but i understand where you guys are coming from. these type of low risk high reward signings hardly work out as i know from experience with frolov a couple seasons ago. and it's not like you guys are lacking serious firepower so it's not a big deal that you missed out on this.

what would it take from the rangers to get eberle? would marc staal + brian boyle + 1st be a good start?

- rangerdanger94

We've done the whole high reward low risk, now isn't the time for it. We need proven players. We spent the past 3-4 years and ended up with a couple guys that worked out, Jones and Petrell.

As for Eberle. I really wish we would've acquired Boyle from LA. Like him then and like him now. I really like the offer you proposed, but Staal scares me. Unless he comes out and says Eric and Jordan are a bunch of (frank)ing gay bumholes I pass.

at $1.75 million it is less than league average!! Why would you risk that? Or is it why wouldn't you?
- undisputed_8821

Edmonton has enough young, unproven talent that they can cycle though the lines looking for fits, why bring in another guy?

i really don't think marc wants to join his brothers because he seems like he loves NY too much. but then again, if he's traded to EDM it's a different city and maybe then he decides to book it to carolina. either way, he's still signed for 3 more seasons i believe for <4 mil a season which is a hell of a bargain.

if that deal isn't enough...maybe replacing the 1st with hagelin would help? he could replace the void losing eberle would cause in the top 6 (although there wouldn't be a void if you signed mueller )

I have no problem bringing in another guy, but lets look at someone that can actually make an impact. I'll actually be shocked if one of Harti/Prv don't make this team now.

Even so

Hall-gagner-Eberle
Smyth-RNH-yak
Jones-Horcoff-Hemsky
Eager-Belanger-Petrell
Hordi

Not a whole lot of room.

So he is a 25 goal scorer that plays center, yet he doesn't do any of that. And we are the crazy ones?

The guy I would love from the Rags is Dubinsky. Would work well with RNH/Gagner until they learn to take draws.

Oiler fans are good at putting words in people's mouths too!! Done here keep the Oiler glasses firmly gripped to your faces!! Watch all these players that could have been had and were passed on with arguments like yours time and time again!! Remember Ray Whitney? Started his hockey career with the Oilers and was let go!! Omark is in the same boat and they are NOT the only ones!! But like you said "potential" only makes sense to you when it solidifies YOUR arguments! Common sense though I thought ran equally between people but WOW was I wrong!!

That's what I'm saying, where does he go. Why bother bringing in another "potential" 25-30 goal scorer when you have a couple of "potential" 20-25 goal scorers sitting in the A.

we'll give you dubi for a bag of pucks at this point. he's been on the market since the deadline and no one wants him after that dismal season he had. i think he'll rebound though and be a 20ish goal scorer again next season but only time will tell.

haha i think you might be overreacting. it's not like ryan suter came to your GM and was like hey i'll sign with you guys for a season for 2 mil and your GM told him to go fck himself.

Might want to check up on the Ray Whitney thing, unless being a stick boy is starting his NHL hockey career as an Oiler.

You bring someone in it needs to be someone that plays PK imo. Preferably someone who plays in all 3 zones. If not I rather give what we have a shot.

I think the hold up is Nash/Ryan. You miss out on those guys then you probably hold onto Dubi for a bit yet.

i think we're trying to use dubi in the trades for nash/ryan. it will help the teams ease the loss of losing one of those guys since he can play in the top 6 and dubis pretty versatile since he can play center or wing. plus we need to get rid of his cap hit if we bring one of those guys in.

ducks have stated they want a 2nd line center for ryan which is what dubi basically is but then they came out and said they have zero interest in dubinsky and want stepan.

i understand if some of you guys want your GM to focus more on defense rather than signing low risk high reward type deals like mueller's or wolski's but i can't believe you guys are so adament about wanting absolutely nothing to do with mueller. if you guys did sign mueller that doesn't mean you couldn't go after a defenseman either...if anything, you could use mueller as a trade piece or it could make someone else expendable so that you guys can get that top 4 defenseman.

would you guys consider trading eberle for marc staal+?

- rangerdanger94

I know you'll call me a homer, but unless it's Eberle for a signed Weber straight up, I wouldn't trade Eberle for anyone else in the NHL.
