this is a good time to get the lines going and get some chemistry started before the season begins...not toss a winger on the first line for his first few weeks as a leaf. seems dumb to me!

is that not better than selling your future for a guy like Stastny? I could see it making sense to put in a nice offer for Getzlaf, but I very much doubt the Leafs and Ducks could come to an agreement that benefits both teams. And there arent too many other centers available, from what I know.

Only one is Percy, and he's going to be competing with Blacker, Reilly, Finn and likely Holzer for spots in another year or 2.

Its just, Stastny isnt really the kind of guy the Leafs need on their top line, IMO.

Maybe Im wrong....who knows...but it seems to me that they need a guy with more grit and size to play with Kessel, and should therefore wait for someone else rather than just settling for Stastny who likely isnt even available.
