Until Schenn knocks him flat into next season on the open ice with his head down - JIMI-JAMES
For every open ice hit he has, there are 10 plays where he doesn't catch the guy and gets caught flat footed. |

Corsi/fenwick are good poop. Better than plus/minus, paints a better picture of a player's ability (especially defensively) than blocks, giveaways, takeaways, etc. - gravyface
Sound like a load of BS and yet another set of meaningless stats. |

Yup. watching folks go on and on about that corsi poop, ive found it so interesting i havent even bothered to Google it. Likely the next plus/minus or point per game. - eihcnerf
Point per game is useful... what's so bad about it?

Brennan Klak @nhlupdate
Panthers sign Peter Mueller per Renaud Lavoie. One year deal at 1.725M. If he is healthy, this is another great gamble.
Fack, we should've taken a chance on that guy. |

24 year old former 6th overall, 209 6'2" center/RW. I would've buried Connolly and Lombardi to make room. 1-year deal, can't hurt. I bet he thrives in FLA. |

Meh, his concussion was pretty bad. If he does regain form, it would be in flordia though. Tallon is the luckiest general manger in the league.
Signs random guys to overpaid deals (last summer) and they all works out |

Still has room to turn it around. Low risk, high reward deal. Lombardi came back from a serious concussion, so did Crosby, Bergeron, etc. |

JVR IS NOT CENTER! He is a winger, best fit is 3rd line, although he could play 2nd. If you stick him on the 4th line he could probably give you 4 or 5 minutes a game as a center. He always struggled playing in his own end. He is not the best skater. He is a one dimensional forward, who under the best circumstances, ie, playing against the other teams worst players and starting in the offensive zone 75 percent of the time, can score 20-25 goals. By the way, he is coming off MAJOR ankle surgery, where full recovery is expected after 18 months to 24 months. And one more thing, while he was on the Flyers he was playing with a heckofa lot more talent then we have here in Toronto.
PS- Toronto ownership should consider hiring me as GM. I would work for free and do a way better job then my old drinking buddy Burkie could ever do. |

Pretty sure it was a broken bone in his foot, and it was not major. Anyways, leave the JVR bashing to me because you suck at it. |

Struggled in his own end? He's been a winger, he hasn't had too....
He was on the top 2 lines in philly, why wouldn't he be here?
He hasn't been center for 3 years.... GOD HE HAS LOST ALL ABILITY
JVR even said today, it will take a few games (pre-season) to get back into rhythm, and when he does he will be fine. It's easier to take face-offs, and play the full 200 feet when you are doing it on a regular basis (which is very true).

He wasn't a centre in the NCAA either though. What else is he going to say? Screw you new team I won't try my best to do what you ask? Hope he can somehow work it out, or at the very least not be injured. |

He played center in college....
Some players don't have good attitudes to something like this, and you can tell when they don't. He seems upbeat and excited to play for the Leafs.
His injuries are overblown IMO. A cheap shot gave him a concussion (which wasn't a bad one) and he hurt his knee blocking a shot. poop happens |

He didn't though. He was a RW the whole time in the NCAA. The last time he played centre in a real capacity was the year before he was drafted in the USNDP-U18 league. I worry about his lack of defensive awareness and face-off skills (They can be learned though it would take time) just off the bat. As long as his heel heals he should be a good option for 2nd line wing in place of one of Mac/Kule |
