Well then have fun finishing 9th or tenth in the east, getting a mediocre draft pick, and then continuing that cycle forever, the sabres aren't going to be a serious contender until they either go into a serious rebuilding phase or finally make a big trade and get someone good, the sabres cannot contend for the cup or even get far in the playoffs with their current roster, they just don't have the talent of depth

Anyone that's taken 5 minutes to do research before writing a blog knows the answer to why a Duchene trade is non existent. One glance at their board and it's clear, the fans are getting tired of stastny, while they simultaneously love duchene. They are tired of stastny's "inconsistent" play. Meanwhile, they see Duchene as their future number one center. All the stats you showed are why they want Duchene. And the Avalanche front office isn't about to trade away the player their fans love most. Terrible blog.

I wonder if this is going to turn into a Lombardi v. Tambellini situation. You have to think that Dallas didn't know he needed surgery when they traded for him. There's no way Neiuwendyke would trade Ott for a guy who's not going to be ready to start the season.

Oh, he knew sort of, and seems to be fine with it.

"According to the team, Joe Nieuwendyk and Tom Gaglardi were aware of the shoulder pain that Roy had been playing through this past season. He was cleared medically for the trade, as is required for any trade in the NHL, yet the full extent of the damage to the shoulder was not known until a full physical in Dallas this past week. According to Joe Nieuwendyk, Roy could have played through the issue again this next season but "we want the best Derek Roy we could get.""

Its possible that the players and owners agree to start the season on time under the current CBA as per Fehr

And your crush on Chris Stewart.
- sambarugh

Considering what it would likely cost to get Ryan...
Id much rather have Stewart
Plays a similar style and should be a 30goal scorer
Still very young too

OT: Someone mind telling me why Freddie Roy wasn't drafted? Kid is 21, had 92 points last season with Grigs. What's the deal?

I'd pass on Stewart, he doesn't make this team any better.

Huh?
He's a power forward type that can score....
How does that not help?

I'm not a fan, he's had injury problems and IMO is an underachiever with lazy tendencies, no thanks. My idea of a power forward is a guy like Ryan Malone.

He didn't really have any success until last year when he was 20
And it was in the "Q" with good players around him
Age is prob the biggest factor

Yea, the Q is an offensive minded league, but..come on. 92 points. doesn't that warrant at least a 4th round pick? He's undersized, and I don't equate his Grigorenko like numbers to a first round draft choice. I just think the kid deserved to be drafted SOMEWHERE. ya know?

He didn't underachieve in either of the 2 seasons before last when he scored 28goals in each
I think he had a bad season last year bc he was playing w injuries
He's still very young too
Malone is ok, I'd take him too
Stewart has 35+ goal potential & would fit in with our new "core"

Agree to disagree I guess

U actually see that happen when it takes a few years for them to produce
It's more about the age
But I hear ya...
He's getting a tryout though,
He'll have a shot to make it

Do you think they have a dispersal draft or just move the team to KC?
