I've said it about 100 times already. But I truly believe that a deal can and should be made between Colorado and Toronto. I've mentioned in other threads about a possible Duchene for Gardiner swap (with other pieces added) or even a deal for Phaneuf and Statsny (similar to the other deal). Personally, I feel the first deal is better for both teams. It would probably look something like this:
To Colorado: Jake Gardiner, Clark MacArthur
To Toronto: Matt Duchene, Shane O'Brien |

He cant crack their top 6, yet he is a great asset to trade. Sounds like leaf fans and komisarek. - DDM-Coga
With all that said though. Vanek without a doubt holds more value than Stastny. But i dont think Sekera is what the avs want. I dont think that Stastny gets traded because there is to much righting on Duchene and Oreilly. |

You're basically getting Sekera for McGinn's rights. Vanek is the big part. Its all throw ins after that. - 50NIX
The only Stastny to Sabres trade I am interested in is Stafford and Adams for Stastny and Kobasew |

Seriously? So we trade away our number 1A/B centre and a tough top 4 dman for a Good yet unproven young Dman and a scrap winger? |

Obrien isnt a top 4 dman. he is a 5/6 dman. one that was poss almost not even brough back. Sekera is better than him. Cant shut down a Sabres fan for over valueing him and then do the same for Shane. Gardiner's first year was stellar. He would be wicked with EJ. But for Duchene would be a stretch. |

RWer, we have a good patch of LW with Landeskog, McGinn, and Parentau.
Downie, Jones, and Hejduk fill up the right side. Upgrade top line RW with Stafford, like his game, plus I think Sacco would be able to use Staff more effectively than Vanek.
Vanek is great just going forward, I would take the slightly younger north american RW |

O'Brien played great with EJ, so he gets pumped into the Top 4 with us and doesnt look out of place |

Duchene is far from proven. He has had exactly one more good year than Gardiner. MacArthur has proven about as much as Duchene, considering he has had the same number of strong years. O'Brien is not a top 4 defenseman. He is on Colorado, due to lack of strong defensemen. Is he was a top 4 defenseman, he'd be getting paid about 1-2 million more. He's a 5-6 defenseman on almost every other team in the league. The trade between Gardiner and Duchene is for potential, nothing more. |

I think you might be confusing Sekera with Weber or perhaps Scheistel???. Andrej Sekera was Buffalo's top defenseman last year, he was top-pairing with both Myers & Ehrhoff for large parts of the season. He is also locked up in a honey of a deal for 3 more years @ $2.75M per... |

The idea that the Isles would move Hammer for a goalie prospect is just simply ridiculous. Yes we took a boat load of young D talent, but the only one that might make an impact this year is Renihart.
If there is one thing the Isles have too much of, its goalies. We've got 2 budding prospects in Poulin and Nilsson waiting in the wings. We need a 2nd line center behind JT, NOT a goalie prospect, so I don't see how this going down without the Avs ponying up a top C. |

Also key part of that trade is getting rid of Kobasew who doesnt really have a roster spot in our lineup right now, and getting a good young 3rd line centre.
Lose a top centreman and a bottom 6 winger and gain a top 6 winger and a bottom 6 centreman. Like how thht all balances out |

One issue with this. MacArthur has been around much longer. Duchene has a much bigger talent level and a much higher Ceiling. He didnt go back to juniors or play anytime in the minors. Duchene is only gonna get bigger stronger and better. I do think Gardiner would look good in COL Paired with EJ. But there is no way they trade Duchene for him. |

I am basing that off all the new sabre linesups I have read on here lately, and he either was omitted or was a 7th, bottom pairing. |

Any thoughts to Hjamarsson? Not an ideal puck mover, but could be a good LH partner to Johsnon. Hawks need a 2C in return. Hjamarsson + for Stasny or something along those lines might work. Thoughts? |

The Avs need someone who is a force in their own end to counter the deficiencies of Johnson. When it comes to d-men who are tough to play against, EJ just isn't one, so he needs a partner who can stop that easy path to the net |

What are your thoughts on the plus part of it? I would love to try and do a Sharp and Hjamarsson for Stastny and Barrie/Elliott kind of trade as the main pieces |

Parentau played with Tavares. The LW on that line is Moulson. The Islanders RW's last year were Parentau, Grabner and Okposo. Top 3 lines that is. While Grabner can player LW along with Bailey player C and LW. |

Youre right, I was thinking Grabner for those positions, had him in a regular season draft bc he was listed as both RW/LW. Didnt make my lineup once that bum |
