So he only has a NTC. So if your not giving anything up, and your shedding salary like Walker and Shelly in the process, then why not get him. You can always trade him next off-season for a late round pick. If he refuses to accept the trade then you tell him he will be waived and play in the AHL. He will waive his ntc because then the other team will just select him on waivers. Perfect 1 year deal a team like Islanders would love to get to get above the cap floor and not pay much salary....

There is a reason the Flyers might be looking into him. Like I said, not top on my list, but I wouldnt turn him down if it doesnt cost any assets.

I dont want his money on the cap this year or next year. Especially with Edler, Enstrom, Weber (possible), Perry, etc. being available next summer. I rather have that money for next year. I understand what your saying but I rather just keep what we have an upgrade the winger spot if possible. Wait till the deadline to upgrade the defense with a second or third round pick like they did to get Kubina/Grossmann.

If he doesn't waive the NTC in the offseason and you absolutely need the money, thats when you bite the bullet and buy him out. Sure its 2 million on the cap for 2 years, but its not that bad. Without any changes the Flyers would still ahve about 3.1 million in cap space, and maybe more if there is a bonus cushion.

Then next season WORST case senario if you have to buy him out and the cap doesnt go up, you will get over 10 million in cap space with Timonen and Jaybo's cap space alone. Or in other terms 16 million to resign Simmonds, Hartnell, and go after Weber, Enstrom, or whoever... More then enough.

It's been a while since I thought about that trade since I spent 2 for unsportsman like conduct. I got to watch a lot of Jeopardy and Wapner in that time, and got some new undies at k-mart. But didn't think about JVR for Schenn trade much....

Oh yea, but it was well worth it. I would do it all over again, and I was actually happy because I didn't have to pull my hair out over the last 2 weeks during this JVR, Parise, Suter, Voracek, Ryan, Nash...BS. I also learned how to cut pancakes with tooth picks, play blackjack with Tom Cruise in Vegas, and I found out I'm an Excellent Driver.
