so the off season is on hold for another week?

i wonder if any of the other free agents are getting irritated with all this.

- Don'tForgetTocchet

I hope a 35 year old Doan isn't holding up free agency or trades.

Not sure the Flyers are going to add any more pieces so this really doesn't matter.

At least he's being very straightforward about his intentions. He wants to be in Phoenix badly, but recognizes there may be a point where that is not a possibility. It's not like he's saying, "Thank you, two thirds of NHL teams, for your enormous offers. I need to... err, talk with my family, I'll let you know in a few days there will be no deadline."
- BulliesPhan87

True. And to be honest, I really didn't have a problem with what Parise did. The fan in me wanted him to hurry up and decide but he was making a life changing decision which always require a great deal of thought.

Flyers in on J-Bo (E.5) - see blog.

I wonder if Calgary will take our crap and some draft picks in turn for J-Bo and his inflated salary.

Maybe not that bad compared to Carle.

I don't want Bouwmeester's salary. WAY too much. He would be a good replacement for Carle talent wise but a $6.68 is far to steep for the next 2 years.

At J-Bo's cap hit for the next two seasons, the Flames likely could hardly give him away even if he waives his NTC. Wouldn't trade a bag of pucks to pay him like a franchise defenseman.

I think I was using crap as a noun, not an adjective.

But my point overall is can we trade MAB, 1st rounders, Gus and Wellwood at the deadline for anything decent?

- Daman

What's your definition of decent? Last year they traded a 2nd round pick for Grossmann. But if your asking can they get Perry or Getzlaff for any of the above. I'd say not likely.

To me... if they take a Simon Gagne dump for him... al la Shelly, Walker, and a 2nd rounder... I dont think I would mind to much. It's not like he is a horrible defenseman. If you can fit him now, you will be able to next season also when Timonen's cap comes off the books. IMO this team only needs a little tweak, and I wont mind JayBo.

It would realllly limit them come regular season.. assuming they would want to make moves.

Taking on that Cap hit could prevent you from obtaining a player in the future that is worth that Cap hit. Such as Weber, or another top Free Agent. That would be a bad move on the Flyers part.

Shelly and Walker can be easily sent to the AHL. That isn't an incentive for making a deal for Bouwmeester.

J-Bo isn't a shutdown defenseman and he's turned into half the offensive player he was expected to be. So much more bang for the buck available out there, especially next summer.
