NEVER SAY NEVER. Maybe we can find a sucker for our crap.

...

Shero took a major gamble to add that player, acquiring All-Star forward Marian Hossa from the Atlanta Thrashers in a deadline deal Tuesday that cost Pittsburgh two young forwards in Colby Armstrong and Eric Christensen, a top prospect and a first-round draft pick.

Who exactly is our "crap"?
- MJL

Defined earlier - but better to be late to the party than not show up.

Crap = picks (1st rounders), Cousins, MAB, Gus, Wellwood.

Are these guys worse than Colby Armstrong?

Every time Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero analyzed his team, he came to the same conclusion: A huge missing piece was a forward talented enough to play on Sidney Crosby's line.

Funny you should mention that.. I was looking for the trade that sent Chara to Ott last night while talking to hockey buddies at the bar. Up pops a list of the most lopsided hockey trades of the decade... and theres that one sitting at #10. Pit robbed Atl... stuff like that happens once in a blue moon. They didnt give up players of Read and Voraceks ilk either.

I dont think 2 or 3 gets it done. my choice if either of the three would work is to do #2 and trade voracek in a deal for a defenseman
- Philly1980

I'd rather trade for a d-man at the deadline.

You can cross the Flyers off that list anyways. He won't be coming here.

You are right....Voracek could snag a pretty good defender in a deadline deal.

I wouldn't trade Jake for a guy like Enstrom at the deadline. Maybe Read, but even that's pushing it for a potential rental.

Yeah.

Just now.

Didn't like the Sharp trade on there. Bad memories. Although at the time I felt the Flyers were giving the kid a chance to play as he was a 2nd line player stuck on the Flyers 3/4 lines.

I did like the Coby trade. Awesome.

That is an intriguing combination. Jagr and Briere complimented each other well, and Voracek has similar attributes. Who would you put with Giroux? Schenn?
- BoomGoesTheCoburn

My opinion is that pretty much any of the other choices could play there. You never know about chemistry, but Giroux is that good.

I personally like Schenn there. Read could work too, but is better suited with Couts on the checking line to give him a scoring compliment.

I'd like Briere on the right with G and Hartnell.

I'd be willing to try that.

They were the most lopsided trades.. not trades that benefited us...

Sharp trade absolutely should be on there..

Pretty strange definition of crap. If it's crap, how is it going to get a quality player in return?

That would make me a bit nervous.. defensively that would likely be our weakest line. Offensively.... well its obvious.

On the other hand, I like moving Briere from center.

Could plausibly replace Jagr's scoring production there and it also allows Schenn greater responsibility as a 2C and see what happens.
