I can't tell you what happened with Carle. Either the player changed his stance, or the team did. That's the risk you take letting a player get to Free Agency. Carle was a loss for the team, but life goes on. The Flyers were fine before Carle, and will be successful without him. Other players are going to get some opportunities. And that can be a very good thing. - MJL

IIRC, they had a payroll of around $64mm in the last season before the lockout |

Vlasic signed a 5 year extension today for 4.2M/year - eayost
I saw that on Twitter after my post, on my iPhone. Capgeek did not have it up - that's where I got the info for my prior post. Oh well. |

Keep in mind that neither Carle or Jagr were casualties of the Cap. It was either the player choosing to go elsewhere, or the Flyers not being willing to match offers. - MJL
My comment had to do with not being able to keep players around due to cap constraints. Nothing to do with Carle and Jagr - except that it would've been easier to meet their salary demands without a cap. |

Wolski wouldve been a cheap luxury....I know hes blah 5 on 5, but coulda just used him for shootouts. He can take Shelleys minutes at half the cost. |

Did Mueller? That's not a bad number for him.....I believe he was the guy with the concussions? Could be wrong, either him or P.A. Parenteu, I get them mixed up |

I was interested in Mueller, but he was a low risk, high possible reward.
He'd shown flashes of brilliance, but never really put it together, the had the concussion problems. |

I liked Mueller, but I wonder if the organization believes the depth chart at forward is pretty solid with Cousins and Akeson. I think the Flyers would trade for Ryan if it was Voracek + MAB or Gus + draft pick. I just can't see them parting with Read in a Ryan deal because of the cap hit combined with the production. |

Yea, I think they're trying to keep as much cap space available as possible for potential moves once the Doan Domino falls....

Florida had some interesting signings. I may be alone, but the Parros signing was nice. I wouldve looked at that, he can actually play and be the man. |

I'm still concerned about the size of the forwards. We got small again. If the refs continue to call the game like last year letting the interference go. Flyers forwards may have a tough go of it |

I'm more concerned with any size of the forwards playing better in the defensive zone. Getting in shooting lanes to discourage the d-men from taking point shots that can be deflected, leaving forwards or d-men completely uncovered from the circles in. The Devils series showed a pretty complete breakdown of team defense more then anything else. |

Nobody's interested in Arnott for, say, 4.5 for two years? |
