Well he was a crap Goalie, so he converted to Defense when he signed with LA as a UFA. - MJL
Just making a reference to one of his amazing "saves" during the Pittsburg SC run.
Probably a poor reference on my part. |

How many conversions from G to a player have there been at the NHL level? That seems pretty rare to me. |

I don't foresee NY, LA, etc. pursuing him given their needs and current roster. Things could always change though. - LordStanley88
Nyr have the most young pieces to pull it off. I think what they have could be very attractive to Nashville. Staal, Stepan, anisomov, 1st? |

Thank you for using the proper contraction as your third word and not its homonym. |

Is Carle that much better than Vlasic? Seriously, I don't know much about Vlasic, I just know he's a young promising Dman. It just feels like that's the deal Carle shouldve had with us in a perfect world, but the market dictated otherwise |

He signed his contract extension four years ago. Thus, that's not a fair comparison. |

Good point, I just miss Carle. Not that the D isn't good now, but it'd be absolutely disgusting with him in there..........and everyone healthy of course |

I'd say Carle is an upgrade to Vlasic but they should most certainly be in the same price range. |

And only 1 player waiver-eligible, who will probably get sent to Adirondack because of it.

Yeah the cap blows.
Casualties of the cap keep occurring too. There's almost no way to avoid them especially when you're as competitive and spending to the cap year in year out as the Flyers are.

The difference between locking up a player when he is still under contract, versus a player testing Free Agency.

Keep in mind that neither Carle or Jagr were casualties of the Cap. It was either the player choosing to go elsewhere, or the Flyers not being willing to match offers.

Flyers just didn't want to commit to Carle. Jagr's asking price was ridiculous and no way should they consider that offer Dallas gave. |

I miss the days when Mr. Snyder locked in on a free agent, went to the bowels of the Spectrum/ CoreStates/FU Center/Wachovia Center...and printed whatever money he needed to sign the guy. |

I can't tell you what happened with Carle. Either the player changed his stance, or the team did. That's the risk you take letting a player get to Free Agency. Carle was a loss for the team, but life goes on. The Flyers were fine before Carle, and will be successful without him. Other players are going to get some opportunities. And that can be a very good thing.
