Really? So the team that trades for him is going to lock him up long-term?
After watching what Suter got I dont see how he doesnt test the market unless the team that trades for him gives him the 12-14 yr, 126M contract. - stveshdy
Yea, unless he gets traded this off-season then I foresee him hitting FA. |

Watch him stay in Nashville for 10 years anyway wouldn't that be some poop. - JoeRussomanno
I would be okay with that. Still have the opportunity to add Edler or Enstrom. Now neither is Weber but still would be a solid add to the roster. |

Because I think teams are gonna wanna get a leg up in negotiations.. and then just by seeing how things worked this year... they will give him something crazy... 12@135mil... Then again the CBA could change that quick. |

There was talk about him wanting to play in Canada b/c he is from there. I believe it was Edmonton. Not sure if I believe that though. |

I'm sure with the nature of discussion concerning the loss of Matt Carle, and the supposed need of a topline winger we could use Sbisa and Lupul right about now. Even if that hit never happened, Pronger would be an aging Player and we'd still be looking for a cup. - JoeRussomanno
True but Weber isn't aging and, while there's a risk of injury, it's still quite low. You can replace Schenn, Couts, Mez/Voracek/Read but there are only a couple of comparable players to Weber.
Besides, how many huge trades ever benefit the team receiving the prospects, historically? These things are mutually exclusive but I think its worth mentioning. |

I would not trade Giroux for Weber. Giroux is a special player among special players and is a steal at his current contract. Weber is a top 5 d-man, I know, but without Giroux I think this offense would flounder.
Besides it would totally ruin my SN. - RooNosHockey
Weber is also a special player among special players. Weber is as much of a star player as Giroux is. Even more so.

No not what I am saying.. I am saying G has a gift when it comes to hockey skills.. He is supremely talented.. I think Weber is physically gifted and talented. I dont think he has supreme skill. Cannon shot, good skater, decent passer... but its his size that sets him apart. He dominates people because of his size.
Now what I mean by making players better... Putting G on the ice with two other forwards... he will create offense no matter what. I dont know if that the case with Weber... but Weber will shut other top players down alone.. so that is a boost for him... Its a super tough trade to make because it is so close. - jak521
I think Weber does the exact same things for a team that Giroux does. Isn't size and physical ability a skill? It is super tough. And I'd hate to be faced with that decision. If the Flyers were to trade Giroux for Weber. I'd be elated and pissed at the same time. It would be an emotional roller coaster.

If we could sign Weber long term, I'd be willing to let Cooter go. |

09 pens had Gonchar who was one of the best offensive D-men in the league.
01 Avs had both Rob Blake and Ray Bourque - jak521
And the Pens had a very deep D core with Orpik, Goligoski, Scuderi, and Letang

I've said before that I'd offer up Schenn, Couturier, Read, Voracek, Meszaros and 3 1sts for Weber if need be. He would have a greater contribution to the team than those guys but not Giroux, especially from a team PR standpoint. Fans would be outraged if G was dealt. Gotta take the business side into account as well. - NickTheKid87

Gostisbehere did look like a very fluid skater on the day I was up at Voorhees. I found it funny that there were as many players born in Florida as there were from Pennsylvania at the camp. - Jsaquella

Well he was a crap Goalie, so he converted to Defense when he signed with LA as a UFA.
