Shows how screwed up the Leafs have become Nobody wants to come here and they don't want to compete contractually to fight and get more talent. What a farce! |

I don't plan on the Leafs doing much of anything this summer...
Been a quiet summer and wouldn't be surprised if that continued. Making major additions is never easy for a team that hasn't seen the playoffs in such a long time. |

What's he suppose to do? Occupy Maple Leaf Square until they give him something more interesting to blog about? - Two_For_Truth
That's the issue. The Leafs are doing absolutely nothing, since Free Agency happened. No signings, outside of a third line centre and no trades. Burke is still on sabatical at the expense of this franchise. |

It's not the market, it's the convuluted ownership, management and scouting. |

It will continue to be a long time, as long as this attitude persists. |

He has until preseason to do something...no biggie "if" he can get something done by then, just sucks it's so quiet.

They've been resigning their players just like most teams are. Don't criticize the Leafs for "doing nothing" until the season starts. Still plenty of time. Schenn for JVR was a pretty big trade, and in the new NHL big trades don't seem to happen as often as they used to. |

No need to panic, I'd rather they be patient than do something just for the sake of doing it. We'll see how it all plays out, but there is still a lot of time for them to fill the holes. BUrke is feeling the heat, it would be easy for him to panic and try to make the playoffs, but he's not. Hopefully he can make some moves to get the right pieces. |

Wow, you nailed it, Too bad the brass in Toronto didn't know this. I'm sure their first agenda is failure, it looks great on their resume. |

OK, we watch Philly, the Rangers and Detroit over the years. They attract big names, even if they have to pay them large. Other players look at a team that will do anything to win and decide to maybe give them a try next year. Why did Brad Richards pick the Rangers over the Leafs? Their commitment to do whatever it took to win. Sign Gaborik, sign whoever it took to fill their holes. Philly was proactive, traded prime assets for younger top end players and draft picks, filled holes with free agent signings. Detroit drafted well, but also grabbed whatever it took to keep competitive. They tried, but failed, to grab both Suter and Parise. At least they tried. They showed inititive to go to the wall and compete. The Leafs, on the other hand, just put out excuses. Reasons for not chasing free agents, cap circumvention. During the draft, refusing to trade up, to fill a critical hole at centre, in round 1. Second round, they could have moved that pick with an asset, to get a second late first rounder and fill a hole in net. Nothing! They refuse to be proactive and would rather just sit idle. What top end, or even middling free agent wants to come here, seeing this going on! |

For the 10th time this week, I am not UG. I do agree with allot of what UG says, but disagree on his delivery of the debate. Just because UG believed the same things, doesn't make him incorrect or wrong on his assessment. |

Well if you were UG then you wouldn't say you were because you would get banned so it doesn't really matter how many times you say it. I hope you are though, that ban was way to hefty.
Ahaha or maybe you actually aren't and the one of a kind character just happened to come around as soon as UG got banned
Whatever it is I like debating with UG so maybe I will like debating with you. |

Well he is, but he isn't a troll. He just has different opinion than most. It makes for some interesting arguments. Until you beat him, then it is frustrating |

Sometimes, the best moves you make are the ones you don't make. If Burke avoids making mistakes this summer, consider it a victory. |
