I like both! I'm from a town of a ocuple of thousand people, so I spent my childhood amusing myself with soccer, cycling and hiking. I'd be more than happy to do the same again, as long as there was a university nearby for me to teach at

Kinston has Queens University and has the best of both worlds, larger town with lots of small town appeal.

Man i'm with you. I love the idea people have of England here in Atlantic Canada. Royal Family, Hugh Grant, Love Actually, Last of the Summer Wine, Green Grass and London. Haha. I occasionally miss it, but after two days of being back i'm booking an earlier flight back to Canada. I just hope we don't ruin this country like we do most. I used to listen to the Leafs on line at 1 in the morning or so. I can't remember who the commentators were, but after listening to them i couldn't believe how we kept losing 6-1. Completely robbed. The opposition seem to only have 6 chances and we would bury on 1 of our 40 golden opportunities.

Does no one remember Burke saying that he doesn't have Sundin in his future plans for this team? Burke wouldn't sign him, Sundin wanted to play and he decided he could still play so he did, and Van gave him a ridiculous contract. I would have done it too.

- Boosinicka

No, I remember that it was Cliff Fletcher that tried to get him to waive and he refused. He got to thinking that he was bigger than the managment team, in Toronto. That Leafs team had very little chance of making the playoffs, since there had been previous years where the team failed, trying to make the playoffs. For a player that had decent hockey sense, he should have been able to figure it out and move on, without trying to hold it over the fanbase.

Then i moved here, and actually saw them on TV. It was strange. Almost as if they were lying.

You have to think that if he can do ppg for 2 years without a bonafide no 1 centre then he can push into the 90-100 pt region if you dropped somebody like a Thornton/Kopitar between him and Kessel.
- lumlums

I can't see either of those guys coming to Toronto.

Kopitar, I think, is going to be a King for a while to come. I would rather Getz then Thorton too.

You're right though.

I would do thta in a second. Lupul is not a proven player. It is likely he will drop off this coming year in production or get injured.

I would welcome that trade. That would also officially make Burke amazing. He would have traded Beach for Luongo and Gardiner...!

- Hockey_Reverend

seriously?

check his stats man. His numbers are better than Grabovski's his entire career, except fo rthe 1 yr in Edmonton cause he hated it there and didn't adjust to being traded after his good year in Anaheim.

ya True, but then again, people who don't get Perry/Getzlaf etc will go for next best- Lupul.

Perry's going to get $7M+, of not $8M. If Lupul goes 70+ pts next year, he'll get $6M form somebody.

- Big_Lightnin

and he'll deserve it too

Ya Burke's words were "we're going younger and I don't know if that's something Sundin wants to do, but we have made him an offer"

... or something like that. Dunno how good the offer was, but Burke did make the gesture.

Yeah, I think that the riots of last year woke people up with regards to what England is really like. Throw in the fact that my wife (an engineer) makes about twice here what she would in the UK and we have absolutely no reason to ever be there. The only thing that I miss from England was my saurday line up: Work 8-12, football 12 - 7, spanish football 7-12 and then hockey midnight until 3

Probably right. Think we are going to have to build more of a reason for top notch players to want to come here.

check his stats though he's always been a ~25G per year guy, just lots of injuries and trades. The back thing was major and bugged him for a couple years before the surgery.
- Big_Lightnin

True, but he does play with Kessel. Just because neither of them is a center you can't say he does it without one, he also does it with a great winger. If you put a number one center in there their numbers go up definitely, but you can't overlook the fact that two good wingers help each other alot even though neither of them is a center, you know?

I do agree he is a good player, just saying there are always those players out there that have a few good years and then just can't find that gear again. Hope it doesn't happen to the Leafs, you guys deserve it.

You guys know I love the Leafs, but I just don't see Burke doing anything rash...Here's my list in order of possible transactions:

1. Trade for Lu: This one will happen only if Burke gets him on the cheap
2. Trade for Getzlaf: Not gonna happen, too expensive and costly
3. Semin: Why?
4. Doan: Bidding war, not gonna happen

JVR isn't top notch anymore because hes now on the Leafs, Just Like Luke Schenn's future is a bright one because hes on the flyers

Seriously though we don't need a top notch player, Lets just tank the next 4 years and win the lottery like the Oilers.
