Doan is nice but we don't need no fVcking Winger and I'm confident Darcy knows this since he is the GM. I'm as positive as TEXTINGSOURCES24/7 that DR and LR have a big center in their scope. If not then they both should be fired.
**Yes I have been drinking Colt 45 - LamontSanford
U r crazy. Doan is exactly what this locker room needs. Doan is mature, still $$ and still tough. Top 5 captain in the league!
We have a lot of wingers, yes. But it is OK to upgrade there and let others mature or play in the AHL. Plus it is hard to understand the center situation right now....Hodgson and Ennis are obviously playing center and if Grigerenko makes this squad it would make no sense for a big center trade.
I'm all about Doan or a similar veteran winger, plus a true checking center. |

So ive read, still doesn't change my opinion on the matter. All cup winning teams have had tons of talent on their rosters, I think that's the more important part of winning a cup. - Rally_Shots
Talent is important, but the role players that have won is the key...
I will not do the research, but of all the players that were on a cup winning team that were previously, I would bet that most of them were role players and not superstars. |

(frank)ing leadership PERIOD is a necessity.
when everybody's friends on the team, who's really going to get on somebody's ass?
this team needs a tried and true red-ass. - EricNearBuffalo
Ott was a good start |

talent is a necessity...cup-winning leadership is invaluable, imo - b0s0o1
Agree to disagree. In my opinion its overrated by the media and fans. Am i supposed to believe that guys like Paille are suddenly going to be better in the playoffs and lead in the postseason because hes won a cup? And I could be wrong but hasnt the past 3 or 4 cup winners been bounced in the first round with 90% of their rosters being made up of cup winners? |

The only teams I question are the 89 Flames and the 84 Oilers.
I can name at least one guy that had won it on every other year from 75 on up. |

Hell yeah, trade for Iginla or throw the kitchen sink at Doan. I would take Morrow, if he is actually available for the right price. |

Maybe True.
We can't go trading the few chips we have on a winger, I like Doan too but if were going to chuck in some of our good prospects and a vet in a big trade a winger would be a mistake over a Thornton or a Stastny.......IMDO. |

Going through the winners in my head I can't name one from the montreal teams of the 70's-present that hasn't had one on it. - dadeadhead
In a recent conversation on an earlier blog the consensus answer to the question was every time.
Is Drury the only cup winner to play [for the Sabres] since the lockout? |

to the contrary, i've not heard anyone in the buffalo media bring up that point concerning lack of a cup-winner on the team...
and they should |

Three more wingers...all great players but unless Lindy is planning on changing the way the game is played with the all chicken winger offense then this is not what they should do. |

It's weird thinking Nieds was here. Quietly here, I always loved him as a player. Plus he has a good playoffs with us. I was kinda surprised he jumped to the Swiss Hockey League or whatever right away. I would have taken him last year over stupid matt ellis |

I hear ya, I would take one of them. I'm just not sure about a top center now. If they want Grigerenko to make it, You have Grigerenko, Hodgson, Ennis at center and to me you need a veteran checking center to go with them. |
