The longer things play out with Darcy the more credence it provides to the theories that he was in fact terrible because his hands were previously tied. As someone else said I'd love to see past deals he mayve had on the table that were nixed by previous management.

Yeah I don't think this deal is going to be drawn out much longer if we are making another move I think it comes within the next week or two. I'll say it again too I think their targeting Ryan or Getzlaf also wouldn't be shocked if it were Marleau.

No one else at that station would ask Regier about Ruff being an issue and then follow it up after Darcy tried to brush it aside with a logical question about how it appears league-wide. If top players are spurning the Red Wings because of their coach being perceived as a douche what do you think they think about Buffalo?

first off, it was a follow-up question after schoppsie's idea of bringing in semin was totally shot down...

that being said, you should probably re-listen to it...

regier basically blamed the players, "we have an expression around here, when things go wrong, or don't go the way you want them to, you have to blame sombody." [12:14-mark]

it falls on the head coach, "there are few people more convenient to blame then head coaches."

when he mentions the detroit article, it sounds as if it was free agent--singular...no mention of "top players spurning" the wings...

holland acknowledged it and regier said that there is "a lot more of that now"...he continues--back to his original point--that "the coaches take the brunt of it" and he says that it's unfair in general and that "in [ruff's] case, i think it's unfair as well"...

regier finishes his thought by saying that the team, as well as individuals, did not meet expectations and that the criticsm came from that

then schoppsie pushes his point by saying that if it's the direction of the league--players whining about and not wanting to play for "tough" coaches--and directly forces regier to "face it"..."it" being player dissent because of tough coaches in general and ruff in particular

I'm with you guys in thinking he has a trade on the table. I think that it is all on hold for teams until Doan is signed. I know a lot of people said that with Parise and Sutter but Doan seams to be the last one before the trades begin. Everyone thinks they have a chance including us.
