it will be interesting to see who stays up, who gets sent down and who goes back to juniors...
remember how pissed we were when despres was sent down early and morrow played the 9 games and we all were just like bc he looked great, wonder if they will do that with the new guys. despres already has a roster spot but i wonder if they will put morrow in wb/s and see what harrington, pouliot and maata can do....
plus you have domoulin and reese who are nhl ready... think they would go to wb/s right off the bat? |

sure we lost staal and his 50-60 points a season, but i dont think we are valuing sutter enough. he hit 40 points 2 years ago, and on a struggling canes team, he managed to get around 30 points. hes only 23 and on a good pens team he can consistently hit the 40 point mark. |

I'm hearing very good things about our defense at Dev. camp. Wonder if nisk, letang, and Orpik are the only D-man from last year that keep their spots - Magicmanmalkin
Martin will be in the top 4 if we don't trade him which I don't see happening anyways. People will get up in arms about this but it is what it is. |

and i would take knuble. def. not for the top 6, but if you dump kennedy and have that spot open, i say take a look at him. he provides that leadership that we need. - SuperHenderson13
Dumping a 25 year old speedster who hits, fights and will eventually be able to hit the net for a 40 year old who was a healthy scratch despite his leadership on a team that we have all pointed out lacks leadership is not a great move.
I would be willing to say bye to Kennedy for Brendan Morrow though. |

Kennedy gets a lot of hate around here, but he's a good 3rd liner. Speedy, some grit, can step up when needed. Certainly would never consider him for top 6, but he's not as bad as some think.

i agree with this. really wanted knuble a year or two ago, but he is just worn down. if kennedy made half a million less, he is a perfect third liner. he does get flak, from myself included, but if you think about it he is exactly what you want on a third liner. its a shame he doesnt have the skill or he would be quite a player |

he is a good third liner and hopefully him and sutter can provide some chemistry, but the guy just needs to bury his shots. he'd be a 30 goal scorer if he could hit the net |

with a healthy crosby playing in front of him, it will make things so much easier on him or sid. honestly, if your the coach on the opposing team, who do you send your shutdown D pair against? |

I'll take it. Even without wingers Crosby will kill teams. Look at the Rangers game last season where he set up Cooke for two against Bickell and Staal. |

I think Engo keeps his spot in the bottom pairing. His skill-set is needed given Orpik is our only other physical Dman. - Rawdog9755
The difference between Orpik and Engels is Orpik as a rule doesnt put himself out of position for the big hit. Engels still needs to learn to pick his spots and realise he is a 5-6 not a 1-2.

a change of system and we see Martin year 1, not Martin year 2. Bylsma didnt coach to the roster he had last year, he is going to have to change or we will see the same result and the same players looking bad when we know they are not bad (martin) |

I agree, but I'm okay with the wingers he has. As a line they all know their roles and they play their parts well. That said I wouldn't be sad if Shero through a prospect or pick at the Oilers for Magnus Paajarvi. |

Do you leave #14 with #18 and #71 or put him back on #87's line? I would be loathe to change Malkins line at all. But Who do you put with #87 to play that role Kunitz played?
Is this the chance Tangradi needs to prove his worth? If he doesn't help out in that role then he is not going to fit in this roster, so either dump him in WBS or trade him. |

he needs to be traded. id say leave that line together, put dupuis back with crosby and have shero trade for a winger for crosby |

Good in theory, but we have to give to get, and I know dmen are a premium, but are we going to get enough back to warrant a trade?
A dman does have to be shifted though, Shero is usually pretty good at getting value back. If he pulls off another Neal style deal, no one will want to trade with him at all. |
