iginla from the flames would be my top priority. i cant see him resigning with the flames when they have close to no shot at the cup and you know iginla wants to win now. - drummer829
Doan for 4.5-5 or Iggy for 7 and you have to trade assets to receive him. Not a hard choice for me. Doan goes into corners and adds some grit. I'll take him over Iggy.

They're not moving Iggy now anyway. Come deadline time, I see a Ray Bourque scenario.....move the HOF to a team with a serious shot.....plus he'll control the handful of teams to which he'll go and he's already shown good chemistry with Sid. He won't command 7 next year. I'll be stunned if the Pens give Doan a 4 year contract.

iginla is just better all the way around. better shot, better skater, stronger on his skates. sure it would take some to get him, but hes so much better in everyway. iginla has just as much heart as doan, but iginlas skill would match so much better with crosbys.

I'm with you drummer. It's not even close IMO. I'm pretty sure heart is the initial ingredient to becoming a first ballot HOF'r. Still... not going to happen until the deadline 'cause that idiot Feaster want's to guarantee the flames get the absolute least in return for the guy. What a maroon....
Iginla is the better player, but wouldn't overpay (assets) to get him. I would rather have him until he's 39 or whatever than Doan. Most I would go for Doan is 3 years at 3.5 mil. DO NOT give him a 4 year deal.

I didnt think Bennett was a senior even, and he def didn't have that outstanding of a season to jump right into ahl, correct me if I am wrong, but he will still be playing for DU next season right? - JLT168
No. He's going pro. Signed 3 year deal for 900,000 per
What's your point? Bennett is a talented kid, but I don't see him making one bit of an impact on the Pens roster for at least two or three years. I'm taking this from the close to 50 games I saw him play for my alma mater. I see the talent, I don't see the impact. Sorry.

Yeah, thats my point, they may think otherwise. He gained 37 lbs and they like what theyve seen so far in camp. Theyre going to give him a shot to see what he can do. He feels he can take a step towards making the team. With what we have now he may have a shot at it. We all get that you saw him play at DU and that he was hurt for a large portion of the season. But, these are NHL guys who think he is at a stage where he could step in VERY soon based on his health and physical growth.

Benett definately has the talent to be top 6 but I think he is at least a year away. He will be here soon enough he just has to adjust to the pro game. Better to sign semin or Some one else to short term deal and hopefully Bennett steps in when they leave. I like that the kid put on a ton of weight that should help. I read he's pretty arrogant but that should change in Wilkes barre.

I'm not sure I would call him arrogant. Athletes for sure better have confidence, which I think is probably what you see...but you tell me.

That was a pretty good interview. Maybe they were referring to on ice stuff. I haven't had the opportunity to see the kid play or speak with him just going off what was reported about him at last years prospect camp.
So Nash listed Pittsburgh as one of six teams he would go to. As good as he could be here I highly doubt we have the assets to get him. I think any move we have at getting Nash would be a lateral move and wouldn't help us.

I really don't get it. Why wait for someone to sign that has no bearing on what/who you sign with. I guess they think it will make teams offer more money because the market is thinner.
