HE'S SO FAST AND AWESOME. - Brian Huddle
I remember you saying he'd easily be in your top 10 because of his speed and willingness to avoid being hit. You were so wrong... haha.... so wrong with your bad takes and stuff. |

There is a group of fans who think that guy has the skill of Gretzky, the skating of Federov and size and physical presence of Scott Stevens. Yet he continues to make Bill Berg look like a hall of famer. |

It's not even necessarily defensive hockey, its just being constantly in top gear amd willing to battle through the guy who isn't giving you the space you'd have in the regular season....Nucks fans get all sour because Kesler and Burrows are the only fwds who can play with enough determination to make things happen in the playoffs.
You need to see a skill player who fights like this? Take a peek at Anze Kopitar or Ilya Kovalchuk. The game is not the issue, your roster is - TommyDeVito
You can't deny it, though. Run and gun hockey gets shutdown around late January every year, and the teams who play that way begin to sputter and die. The teams who continue to do well, battle through the lockdown, get pucks deep and grind the hell out of the other team. |

It's not even that, teams have shown you can win with skill. Pittsburgh, Detroit, etc. You just need enough of it and some spine to complement it. - Double_A
They also had some grit in their lineups, which we are lacking in our top 6. I wish we had a Farnzen type player, or a true power forward. Our current top 6 we already have too much skill, we require more toughness, or a player with heart (maybe a Canadian, like a 35 year old Coyote). |

I remember a conversation where Murrey almost cried when he was told by Burke that Kadri was Burke's pick. Just think, it could have been the send that possessed that package of hockey awsomeness. |

I don't get it. This is the hockey that we've seen for years--- get the puck deep, cycle and create chance in-zone. "Exciting" run-and-gun hockey gets you nowhere. - Brian Huddle
It got the NHL a ton of fans the first year and a half after the lockout.
Now it's gone back to lumberjacks on ice.
Where's the flow in the game?
It's now dump it in, get it, or the D pitchs it out. Repeat ad nauseum.
And that is ultimately very sad, because cycle hockey is not going to bring any excitement nor fans to the game. |

While I hate Kadri and always have (I seem to hate a lot of the knights, to be honest), the guy pictured isn't him. Its old double A...
Also, there was talk that Murray wanted Cowen the entire time and it was actually Murray who helped reinforce Burke's decision to select Kadri. Regardless of that, why he picked Kadri, a guy who is about as opposite of what a Burke player looks like, is beyond me. Burke can have AA and Kadri for all I care. |

You mean when more is let go and less penalties are called?
Yeah. |

Yeah. - kingcong39
Teams tend to lock up more. They've become accustomed to what the coach expects, and they start to take away the middle, force the opponent to the boards and pin them. Smart teams know what wins hockey games, and adjust accordingly. |

You can't be physical while flying and up and down the ice?
Says who?
I understand it's a matter of personal taste.
For my own taste, I've never seen better hockey then the year and a half of play after the lockout, when there was virtually no obstruction at all.
I prefer speed, in every way.
Some of the hits during that season were massive.
Yes there were less, but hey, it's much harder to hit a fast moving target when you can't keep up.
Watching endless play along the boards and in the corners is about as exciting as warm milk to me. |

And it's immensely easier now then it was right after the lockout when everything was being called.
Easier to lock somebody up when they are a more stationary target. |

No. Physical hockey at break neck speeds end careers. Ask Mike Van Ryn or Patrice Bergeron if they'd rather have a teammate be allowed to slow up a forechecker when they go to retrieve a puck.

Precisely. You can't have hockey be played at the speeds that people want and still be hard hitting and physical. You'll end up with someone dead on the ice. |

it's pretty obvious that's what he was saying. the bruins are bullies with no skill. the only reason they won was because the refs stopped calling penalties. the nhl started handing out suspensions to the canucks for no reason. and didn't hand out suspensions to the bruins. |

You will get all kinds of responses in a few days. When Luongo and Raymond go to the Panther for Versteeg, and Up Shaw/Kopecky. - Bieksa#3
Yeah that won't happen especially since Versteeg is an RFA and is going to arbitration lol.. |
