haha.

New rule from the Flyers FO... If a player misses a shot that is deemed "A slam dunk 99 out of 100 times" they must donate 10k into a fund called "High and Wide". Proceeds benefit obese stoners..

I'm surprised no one complains about Carter's stick breaking in the faceoff circle near the end of the third period of Game 1 of the 2008 ECQF, since had we won that game, we could have swept instead of winning in 7. Oh, wait, no. We won that series, so that doesn't matter anymore.

You cant blame Howson for trying. If your giving up Nash you would like a star caliber player coming back.

Marleau available?

- stveshdy

Not if it's known that Nash wants out.

Howson loses signficant leverage there, and no club is going to pay an exoribtant price for a guy who's demanding a trade and comes with such a lofty contract.

Howson is living in a fantasy world.

Out: Carle, Jagr, JvR
In: Gervais, Schenn, Feddy

- stveshdy

Let me see we lost:

1. defenseman who was a turnover machine.

2. Jagr whose groin is screaming at him every other game to retire. ( I think flyers pick him up at the deadline)

3. A power forward with no power, who toronto is dumb enough to try and make into a center.

They shouldn't trade Pavelski. But Wilson is backed into a corner and might pull the trigger - there's been a lot of chatter round these parts.
- BoomGoesTheCoburn

Never thought he'd deal Setoguchi, tbh. You never know in today's NHL.

Game 2, ECQF, 2009. Missed open net against Pitt which would've been a game clincher.

I'm not going to knock Carter, because he's a great player, but I certainly remember.

Opportunities present themselves. The Sharks dealt Setoguchi to get Burns, a border-line #1 blue-liner.

I just don't see clubs budging on the Nash front but you never know.

He signed here "for Debbie." Or not.

I'm just reminded of how, after he announced his engagement, every time he'd score my siblings would yell, "FOR DEBBIE!" in his sort of accent.

Gonna love hearing that again this season.

The 2009 series ticked me off because the dumb in that series led to the Flyers' downfall. Not just Game 6 either (for the Carcillo blame-throwers out there). They could have come home with at least a split if not for stupid play.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired B.J. Crombeen and a 2014 fifth round pick from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for fourth rounders in each of the 2013 and 2014 NHL Entry Drafts. Crombeen had three points and 71 penalty minutes in 40 games with the St. Louis Blues last season. Look for him to serve as a third or, more likely, fourth liner with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Burns would get dragged through as much mud in one night as Carle did in a week here. His defensive play is suspect. He's like Any Elmore. No D.

I disagree. He's gotten better defensively in recent years, although that knock was true in years past.

Definitely a offensive minded d-man though.

Can't dwell in the past have to look ahead. I'm ready for the season to start b/c the Phillies aren't helping the summer move any faster.

He has shored up his D zone play, but this is Philadelphia. He'd end up in an article like this one:

In my experience, Flyers fans are particularly harsh on their own team's defensemen. This was true even in the 1970s (ask Tom Bladon) and 1980s (Behn Wilson, Doug Crossman) but especially in the internet age. Goalies may get the toughest treatment, but the blueline corps is never far behind. It always seems like there are a few whipping boys on D who can do no right in the eyes of many fans. Matt Carle is the current target of choice among many Flyers fans.

Target on his back by 5th game of the season in a Flyers jersey.

They also dealt their best prospect (Coyle) and a #1 pick. Burns is a dynamic offensive player, but his defense is still developing. San Jose's cupboard was sparse before that trade; it's completely empty now. Sharks fans know this and, coupled with the current core's lack of playoff success, are getting impatient.

That said, I think Pavelski is their future captain - future as in next year. Trading him would be a mistake.
