I'm not going higher than $3.75 mill for Jake unless it's a multi-year deal.

For 3.75M I want multiple years. Thats just me.

5 yrs at $4.25 mill is something I'd be interested in.

Maybe because his agent thinks hes a top 20 player in this league. I dont see it. Voracek is a nice player but giving him more than 3.25 on a one year deal is an overpayment imo.
- stveshdy

Also gotta realize the spot the Flyers are in right now.. Its almost a definite that he will end up on the top line with G and Hartnell.

The Flyers moved JvR, and replaced the offense lose by moving him and losing out on Jagr with Rusty.. Now they want to re-sign Jake.. but the power has shifted to his side a bit.

If his agent is smart, he would play the hell out of Jakes playoffs, and the expected use of Voracek this upcoming season. Right now he is a super important piece to the puzzle.

I don't like Jake on the top line. Think Schenn would be a better fit.

He's 22, correct? Giroux signed 3 year deal @ 22 as well. Have the 2 of them be what we / they thought was JVR / Giroux. Yes, Voracek has had better stats going into this, but he was getting top line minutes in CLB. If he wants to grow w/ this nucleus and be integral part of it, line starts behind #28.

3yrs @ 3.75M is nothing to sneeze at, gets him to UFA status? and reassess from both sides then.

virtual lock for 20+ goals, 25+ assists, and a boat load of physicality. Also a bit of a clutch player... Just needs to stay healthy (and thats a bigggg issue with him).

All valuable points but they could turn around and trade Voracek to get Ryan. Homer won't cave to his demands.

If I were the coach Id have Voracek with G and Hartnell.

Schenn isnt ready for top line play yet.

I see it looking like this.

Voracek is a very talented player. I don't know if hes ready to be on the first line either playing against other teams first pairings. Maybe he does well or he struggles but right now we dont know what to expect from him playing in that spot imo.

Personally, I dont think Voracek is worth more than 3.25M on a one year deal. If the Flyers are going to give him 3.75M then it better be atleast a two year deal.

I could be wrong, but didnt he rotate on the top line every time Jagr wasnt out there?

Why not?

Seemed to work out beautifully for Seguin in Boston.

I think he's a better fit with Giroux anyways. More natural scorer and he won't be afraid to crash the net and shoot when G gets him the puck.

Jake's creativity is better suited on line 2.

He got some playing time there but Jagr played with that group for most of the season.

Can he handle that spot over the course of an entire season?

Got paid, yes.
Higher expectation, yes
Traded, yes

Not disagreeing with you, I just think that it becomes a time when the team needs to reel the players in and let them know their perceived value and long term picture (if Homer has one). In modern days of Dwight Howard, Parise, Eli Manning, Lebron, etc, I hope that teams can maintain some control over the talent.

"Name on back not as important as logo on the front"
Giroux is face of franchise, accepted a good, escalating deal @ 22 yrs old. That would be my sell to Voracek. Produce a 70 + pt season on top line and we'll talk big $$.

Dear lord.. now you are comparing Schenn and Seguin?

They already have that net presence on the first line with Hartnell. He is gonna be crashing non stop. G isnt just a set up man. He does everything. He will go to the tough areas, he will puck handle guys, he shoots.. but the one thing Voracek has on, probably every other guy on the team, is his puck possession ability. Getting the puck along the wall or down low and moving it out into space and generating open possession was a key ingredient to the first lines success last season. Jagr was the key contributor to that aspect. I personally feel Jake would do a fantastic job replacing Jagr.

Only one way to find out. Only one way to find out with any of them. I just personally look at the skills each player brings and see Jake as the most readily capable player for that position, who also brings a very complimentary skill set to that line.
