Thing is every time a contract comes up a player wants a raise. Thats a significant raise for Jake from last year if he gets 3.75M.
- stveshdy

But its sorta what the market demands.

Yeah but you cant keep doing one year deals. The price is going to be rising every single year. It makes more sense to lock him up to a longer contract at that price.

Thats not what is meant. I'm saying they should do a longer contract at that current hit and not just a one year deal.

Voracek career .57 points per game player, Purcell a .55 player that just got $4.5-million per season. Upside much higher on Voracek, too.

per LEED

So Jake at 4.5 or would they rather have Ryan at 5.1?

I would be okay with that deal if Voracek signs for more than a year.

Ryan of course if it would be a swap, but adding 1 or more Flyers (incl. B Schenn etc.) I would still say no.

Jake wont get 4.5...

Its like comparing apples to oranges.

Your talking about a guy in Purcell who has really come into his own the past 2 years.. 116 points in 162 games... .71 ppg

Jake has 95 points in 158 games over the last 2 seasons.. or .60 ppg

I like Voracek but I dont see how he gets more than $1M raise if he signs a one year deal.

If svboda is telling him not to take that, if they're offering him that, he needs to fire svboda.

If they dont take that kind of deal it wouldnt surprise me if Voracek is halfway out the door (getting traded).

I think they are going to use his playoffs as a bargaining chip.

Wasn't Giroux 22 or 23 when he signed last deal, last year (3.75M)? How in Voracek's right mind think he's going to get more than that? I would try and lock him up w/ same progression as Giroux (3.75) for 3 years and revisit if / when he plays like top 20 player in the league.

would anyone be interested in trading for Simon Gagne

LA does not really have a spot for him.

I don't see them using him at that price on the 4th line

1 year 3.5 cap hit 2.5 salary. Maybe send Lilja for Gagne they could use a 7th dman.

G didnt sign that last year... market value increases.

G was coming off of a 40somethign point season... followed it up with a very good playoff.

Voracek is coming off of 50, 46, 49 point seasons and followed this up with a very good playoff...

I wouldnt be shocked at all if he got a bit more than 3.75

Maybe because his agent thinks hes a top 20 player in this league. I dont see it. Voracek is a nice player but giving him more than 3.25 on a one year deal is an overpayment imo.

I'm not going higher than $3.75 mill for Jake unless it's a multi-year deal.
