That Elias statement is all well. The previous year teams were talking about Leino ( and his line) the same way so I take that with a grain of salt. Voraceks numbers are almost identical to his last season in Columbus. He's a very good player but I'm not ready to put all this pressure on the kid just yet. He has a lot to improve onion his game. He's going to get the chance to play on the first line so will see if he's ready to handle that on a consistent basis. I love Voracek but I'm keeping my hype on him down a level until he matures more. For the Flyers sake it would be great if he turns into a star.

Bill, also can you shed any light on Morrow? What's his physical status, and do you think he has any more left in the tank? What do you think it would take to obtain him? Thanks

Pretty much.

Homer has whiffed at the tee this off-season, and he won't deal 10 or 14 for anybody.

- LordStanley88

Disagree.

Depth moves are sometimes better than reeling in the big fish with a 80-100+ mil deal or via huge trade. This would be one of those times.

It's not a video game. You can't always get the top guy in FA. And there's no use constantly trading for the flavor of the season because it'd be a sideways step at that point.

Homer's making the right moves by not dealing the farm for Ryan or Nash or anyone and also by not landing Suter/Parise.

Na. One year deals are better. This way he can keep cashing in. Voracek is better off this year signing for a one year deal. Play with Giroux and score a ton of points and then come back to the Flyers looking for a monster offer.
- stveshdy

Which is why I want homer to go for a 3-5 yr deal.

Exactly. Parise and Suter have elite level contracts. It could be argued that Parise is elite, or borderline so, anyhow, but there's no way that Suter is. Had Jagr signed here for $4.5mm people would have shredded Holmgren like a paper towel cleaning a cactus.

Carle's deal isn't awful. I'd have been ok with $5.5mm, but not for 6 years with a NTC. The Flyers will miss Carle, no question about it. But they'd be facing tough cap questions down the road, especially with an uncertain CBA picture.

Holmgren traded a good young player with potential from a position of strength for a good young player with potential at a position of need. I'll admit I though JvR should have gottne more than Luke Schenn, but Schenn has potential and he brings a physical element to the blue line.

Holmgren added a couple good, solid role player to round out the team and provide veteran leadership-and Fedotenko has two Stanley Cup rings.

Need to sign Vorachek if only to have an asset to use for a trade down the road. Such as enstrom or weber. Obviously it will cost more but need somewhere to start. Keep him on a line with G and we can create an overvalued player.

Or just keep him because he is a good player that could be a valuable member of the team's core moving forward.

Completely agree with both of you. Sometimes the best move is no move. The Phils had Stand Pat. This year we have Stay Holmgren!

I agree, but if Morrow can be had for a good deal, I say go for it
