Good to see you. Waiting for some of your opinions.

Surprise topics....Semin v. Doan v. Nash v. Ryan v. Weber

Pick one and why we should get him.

Or make a case as to Voracek is overrated or underrated.

I just caught you up on the last 5,000 posts.

Mods couldnt have done me a better favor then banning me during the Parise/Suter BS. I would have gone crazy......

My opinion at this point.. Try and do what you can to sign Doan. Dont want Semin. Only trade for Nash or Ryan if your not giving up too much, and you have to do Weber if you get the chance. Otherwise roll into camp well below the cap, bank some money for deadline acquisitions.

As for voracek.... Under-rated by the rest of the league, over-rated by most Flyer fans.

re: semin, that's simply not accurate.

He was actually praised several times for his defensive play during the playoffs by none other than the vaunted and all-knowing Pierre Mcguire. And as much as I hate Pierre, he wasn't wrong in this case.

Coming out with a bang. I agree with most you points, but I like Voracek.

I still don't see us getting Nash, but more likely Ryan.

I would sign Semin for two years and not even think twice about it.

I like Voracek too. I just think he falls into that "nice player to have" category. I dont think he is a top line player. I would consider him a harder working, slightly more talented, younger version of Ville Leino.

I guess what I am saying is Voracek is not going to make or break this team by his presence or absence, but he does make the team better. so yea... nice guy to have.

He was improved in that case but overall you wouldn't suggest he is praised for it.

There's really a stereotype of Russian players as not being good 2 way players. That's mostly due to players such as Bure, Malkin, and the star high scoring Russian players. But a lot of Russian, and European players are very good defensively. When they want to be. I don't know that Semin isn't a good defensive player. But there has been rumblings about his effort. How true that is, I'm not sure. But I'm just not excited about getting into an expensive long term deal with Semin.

Voracek has a real chance to be one of the better players in the League. To be a 25 goal, 70 point scorer in this League. He's 22 years old. And already plays a solid 2 way game. He absolutely has the potential to be a top line player.

Comparing Voracek to Leino is a bad comparison. Voracek was a top 10 pick in the NHL Draft. Leino was an undrafted Free Agent. Leino has had one 50 point Season. Voracek has had 3 Season around the 50 point mark.

Are there rumors that we have interest in Semin? I would be shocked, honestly.

I assess a 0% chance of this. Doan I am sure they would like but still low % odds.

It's amazing what a difference a year can make. In Columbus before the trade people said it wasn't enough and that Voracek was a lazy player. Things change fast.

A lot of people confuse growing pains and the normal inconsistencies of a young player with laziness.

Maybe. I just like how Voracek has gone from an okay player in Columbus to a first line stud in the making over one season. That's not at anyone specific but just in general. People have the right to their opinions but I'm just soaking it all in.

He stepped up his game last year.
Showed a commitment to become a better all around player.
Elias said he was the Flyers second best forward in the play off series against them.

And even when he was in Columbus I thought he showed flashes of being a potential star. He was better then OK in Columbus, and was a major part of the Carter trade.

Maybe he won't turn into a first line all star.
But he is already a very good player and has potential if he can score a few more goals to being even better.

That Elias statement is all well. The previous year teams were talking about Leino ( and his line) the same way so I take that with a grain of salt. Voraceks numbers are almost identical to his last season in Columbus. He's a very good player but I'm not ready to put all this pressure on the kid just yet. He has a lot to improve onion his game. He's going to get the chance to play on the first line so will see if he's ready to handle that on a consistent basis. I love Voracek but I'm keeping my hype on him down a level until he matures more. For the Flyers sake it would be great if he turns into a star.

Nhl.com is suggesting Brendan Morrow might be availible for trade. Entering the final year of his contract and coming off of a down year he might be snagable for Bourdon and some picks (Stars need D). A captain, vet and professional, he could provide leadership, size up front and he's got ties to Hatcher. I think he could be a cheaper version of Doan. It would cost us some pieces, but we would not have to be carrying 8 defensemen or it could open up some space to grab someone like Spacek. Just an idea, feel free to crap on it.

I know right? The guy is almost 28 and has been in the league for almost 8 years. Its not like he is only 22 and still maturing as a player and a person.....wait.........

Morrow if he's healthy would be a great addition. But I think they'd be looking for a much better player in return then Bourdon. And if Dallas is looking for Defense. I'd have to wonder why they traded Grossmann for a 2nd round pick last Season.

He wanted to add another consonant to his name. They thought it would slow him down even more.

Agree that it would take a tad more to bag Morrow than just MAB even though Morrow will be a UFA at the end of the year.

Not sure if you would agree but the Flyers don't have many assets to trade (or their willing to move).
