Don't see Phoenix moving Yandle for quantity instead of quality.. And especially not that quantity.

They need just about everything up front but I am sure a center is at the top of that list.

You would have better luck with a Hall for Yandle swap. I doubt Gagner fit's their physical two-way center or general forward profile..

Sorry Clouts, but that deal doesn't sound right. I don't think Phoenix wants Hemsky. Is it just me or does this guy have negative trade value. I'd do that deal if it was

Edm 1st, Edm 2nd, Gagner, Paajarvi for Yandle, Lessio

If you don't like it, tank and get MacKinnon like we expect you to

This coming from a leafs fan? Just because you guys traded away 2 lottery picks doesnt mean you werent lottery team bad as well.

As Oil fans do you drink the crude stuff or is it just in your blood to be this delusional?

Be happy you have a bright future.. Stop thinking Gagner or PRV is going to get you players like Yandle or Green when used as the center piece.

Fan is short for Fanatic.. So we are all riding the same wave, unfortunately some are riding in reality and some are riding the drool on their pillow in the middle of the night.

I hate the Oil but their fun to watch.. Stop playing with Leafs fans in your spare time they are rubbing off on you.

Cheers

- Steve-B

Most of us realize that they dont have that value to other teams in the league. Dont paint us with one brush

Lol hemsky isn't worth much, if Phoenix is gonna trade yandle they'll want a good return that probably starts with a dman. Don't think he's even moved, but if he is it will be for more then hemsky and some throw ins.
- Sabres30

Just no.

They are loaded on the back-end - PHO needs offense and perhaps offense at a modest price.

I think he is just as strong if not stronger than Hall... Its just that PVR has a mild temperment and did not know how to apply it... I look for great things from him in the future... he has size and speed something we lack... give the kid 20 more lbs and a feisty attitude and some fans will change their minds rather quickly... Remember- Hall for a 1/3 of the games last year would continually try to burn to the outside and shoot the puck at the goalies chest...
- saskoil21

That still bothers me with Hall, I can't wait til his game ripens a little more.

With PRV - if you told me that in 3 years he was a solid two-way 3rd liner/ tweener with hands and hot streaks. I'd be happy with that. We need those players as well.

Not that its needed as Eberle is the obvious choice and already has a healthy lead

Weird that TSN has him listed as a center???

Agreed... only thing I would add is that - PVR can have occasional top 6 time... I think he is a borderline 2nd /3rd liner...

Obviously, if you're Edmonton, you're not going to give up Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Gagner, Yakupov, Dubnyk, Petry, Smid, Nick Schultz, Justin Schultz or Klefbom.

when I read this, I thought, "here we go again." but the offered deal wasn;t terrible. I do think that hemsky would have to be replaced with gagner, as the yotes need a center. but gagner , 3013 first, and pvr would be a good start. peckham not so much. they might go for that... but if instead you threw in a musil or other decent d-prospect, I would think they would have a hard time passing that up.

ooops 2013 1st.

- ChrisMS

I agree... that is a pretty favourable offer... thats 2 former 1sts and a decent dman prospect along with an addional 1st... - doubt Tambo does it...

Ya it's a little annoying at this point to think how he came in as rookie and where he is now. Hopefully somewhere in that frame is a 50/ 60 point 2nd LW that can and will use his size. He doesn't need to crush people necessarily - he just needs to play strong.

remember, team that gets the best player almost always wins. he has the pieces in place to grow with. the yotes need to still play at the base of the salery cap and still have assets in which to be a viable organization. at what you wanna bet prv and gagner thrive under tippet. and if shultz is at least a top 4 by the end of the season and doesn;t bomb, than him and yandle make the weak area of the oil a strenth... only gamble would be dub... maybe he ought to look at bernier as well as a 1a

What about signing Semin. Everyone seems shy about going after him. I know he has a down side but he also has an upside. I read a different blog yesterday suggesting that his efforts, etc... issues probably aren't any worse than other players of his calibre. If the price was right I don't think it would be the worst idea.

Pilgor isn't advocating the idea of trading Eberle. Just pointing out what it would cost to land Carlson.

I know, but just the idea of it has driven some posters into insanity.

His effort is what makes him a lessor player. If he gave a honest effort night in and night out he'd be considered elite.

He was the Yotes franchise defenseman, you better be ready to give up Eberle or Hall at least. Think about it, the Yotes were a playoff team last year, why would they want useless pieces like Hemsky, Peckham and a bust like MPS? They would ask for the players every team would want! Yandle for Hall straight up. Or Yandle for Edmonton's first next year and Eberle.

Is Kadri a bust or are you still able to get Nash with him as the centerpiece? Yandle for Edmonton's first and Eberle? Go kill yourself.

If it wasn't for Gagner's week long tear last year, his name would have disappeared into oblivion by now, and a bucket of used but good pucks would have been more then enough to get Oiler management to flip him.
- gstrandberg

He's not untouchable, but this is a silly statement. That's just terrible asset management. Look at how long Phoenix held on to Turris, and what they got for him.

Now consider this list:
Patrick Sharp first 337 NHL games - 179 points
Henrik Sedin first 400 games- 221 points
Daniel Sedin first 397 games - 222 points
Stephen Weiss first 401 games- 224 points
Sam Gagner first 366 games - 220 points

Heck, he's not even that far off the pace that Kessel put up in his first 370 or so (245 points).

The fact that leafs fans seem ready to give up a 22 year old for nothing explains a lot.

Hemsky a useless piece? Here we go.

There are mitigating factors here man and I think Hemsky has more cache around the league then you might think.

At the same time you overvalue Yandle - heck even PHO dropped him down the depth chart in the playoffs. He went from number 1 to number 3 in ice time and tough minutes/ Qual-comp. PHO has tons of depth on D and could badly use some offense.

Eberle AND our 1st? fluck off.

Having said all that I understand the optics of what seems like Hemsky and spare parts for Yandle but I do think it IS POSSIBLE to pry Yandle out of PHO for a package that doesn't include our top four young forwards and if it isn't - then it just doesn't happen at this time.
Edmonton is not a the point in the rebuild to be moving those players.

Hall = Eberle + a 1st?

You don't watch the oilers.
