i would be willing to give Semin a look.
he has a lot of talent. and in all seriousness, when Hunter pushed him and made him become responsible, he was arguably the caps best player in the playoffs.
with the proper leadership around him and the proper discipline from the coach, Semin can be that player that teams want him to be.
the problem is im not sure if the penguins have that leadership or if Bylsma has that discipline.
I think a lot of people will end up disappointed after seeing Doan play if he becomes a penguin. guy skates like he has bricks in his skates. - SuperHenderson13
If all other avenues are exhausted, I'd except a one year deal with Semin, but the most pertinent part or your point is if the Pens have the discipline to get him to play the right way. This too scares me. Discipline was in short supply in the playoffs.
Doan for 2 years at 4 mil.... I'm good with that. Doan for 4 years is not a direction they should go. |

I think using that as your only stat is "lazy". Semin was a very sheltered player, starting most of his shifts in the offensive zone against relatively bad competition. - rmdevil313
He ranks 17th on the Capitals I believe in the quality of his competition. |

So now everyone just sits and waits for Doan to sign somewhere, then we will see trades and more teams will give Semin more money....
honestly if we dont land Doan or Semin (hell even if we do get Semin) I would really like the Pens to go after Iggy |

Hey you remember when guys would just pick a team and play for them or just auction themselves off to the highest bidder? I actually miss those days after this FA period. |

Doan, is a good fit for as long as he stays healthy at 35. Question is: Will he REALLY leave Pheonix at all? He can look over option, and they will be there, but does he really leave? I'm not so sure he does. Doan and Iginla are two of these guys we always see as great options but never seem willing to part with their current teams if the idea is brought up. I have no problem with that. Doan is a great guy for all aspects of a team, love to have him. We'll see pretty soon if he really is gonna jump, or if he's buying more time - HopintheCordoba
ive been saying this for a while now shane doan for the win perfect fit and honestly the best forward available right now... healthy yes thats key but the dude was an animal in the playoffs totally worth it IMO |

I disagree with all this hate towards Semin. Most of this started with Pierre Mcguire, after he started to run his mouth everybody else wanted to chime in as well.
The fact of the matter is that this guy puts up stats, even if he does take shifts off the guy is still going to help us win more games than we lose. period.
If we want to continue to play guys like TK and Dupuis in the top six we will continue to be bounced from the playoffs... EARLY. We are quickly becoming the San Jose Sharks of the Eastern Conference.
If we can convince him for a two year deal around 6 Million (I know it's a paycut for him, but that would prove himself as a guy who wants to stay in the NHL) then I say why not take a flier out on him? |

Gotta agree the guy is very talented, his work ethic and team skills are maybe questioned, if he was able to improve on these, while on our team, and take a pay cut his services would be worth it. One would think he would want to prove himself to the world of hockey...who knows, he may just end up in the KHL and everyone will think, rightfully, what we have all been thinking...time will tell but I would be surprised but pleasently I suppose if we were to sign him AND he were to show some heart and work ethic... |

I had a problem with parise and sutter doing it because everyone knew what they were trying to to ending up on the same team, but doan has earned the right to wait as long as he wants he spent his whole career with that organization and wants to remain there obviously, he just has to see how ownership pans out not his fault. |

He has said the whole time he wasn't even going to talk to teams until the 9th because that's when some vote was suppose to happen. So now that it's the 9th he has to be offered by teams and hear their pitches give it a few days. |

Its a little long but for the folks that wouldnt mind having Semin on the Pens this would help your argument:
http://thehockeywriters.c...d-ignoring-the-10-percent
I still say that after all those positive things are said about him, he is still unsigned in a Nicole Richie thin free agent market. There has to be something to that. |

This is a thin market, but Semin is over looked. Trust me when I tell you that Semin will not hurt the Pens. The Capitals were just making Semin worse. |

I just wish Shero would just make up his mind. Sign Semin for 2yr 8 mil with incentives. Play him with Crosby and Duper and leave the Malkin line alone. Semin should be good for at least 30 g 40 a playing with Crosby. If he has a quick release like Neal that should be easy to get. He'll be ok with the Pens. Crosby and Malkin will make sure he does the things he needs to do to be a better player. Semin spent too much time with Ovie and developed bad habits. |
