Hahaha...

I vote for just Barch or The Bart Man....

Neither of those sounds are right for his name though...

It's pronounced Baertschi.

It could just be "The Bear" but that makes him sound all mean and grumpy... Doesn't really fit.

Think the Flames have a shot at Doan?? I think I could see him in a Flames uni. Might have to swing a deal. Maybe trade bouwmeester and stempniak or something to make room. Local boy, rancher, i'm sure he would like it here, as would I.

2 years, 10 mil?

I would very much like to see Doan here, great hockey guy, great canadian boy. But it all depends on what Feaster wants to do right, so its tough for me to make judgement on who Id like to see...

Yes if they intend on trying for the playoffs....No if they are looking to retool with youth.

Meh...

I'm almost ok with just calling him Sven.

It's not like there are a bunch of other Svens out there to get him confused with...

Clearly they are making a run for it. And I know it sounds stupid but with a guy like Doan added they might have a decent shot (not great, but they would be solid). That's why I like the 2 year term. If is doesnt pan out, the youth will move in and the Flames can unload the UFA's and head in a new direction

I just don't see how you can bring him in... He's a RW so he'd play behind Iggy, but that's where Cammy or Hudler are already slotted.

You can't pay 5 mil for a 3rd line RW, and I don't see him being happy with 3rd line duty either.

Just don't see it happening.

I'm fully convinced Cammy will be centering the first line. Leaving Doan to play with Cervanka and Hudler. Could be a great combo for that line. Someone to dig the puck out of the corners and keep everyone honest with those players as well.

If Doan can be had at a reasonable cap hit and for a shorter term then heck yes. Problem is, we are competing with a lot of teams and we are in a position, arguably, to start bringing in more youth and allowing them to play.

Its always important to have a nice mixture of youth and vets...but we currently have more vet than youth....so....

Believe you me, if they could convince Doan to play here they will no doubt find him a spot in the top6

Ya I hear ya....that's why I would expect another winger to be moved via trade (perhaps in a package with bouwmeester). I any case...I hope they at least TRY to make it work. Doan is a good Alberta boy and would be great in the room. He's done great with his teams in PHX, despite the obviously lack of support.

Doan would be a solid addition...my only fear is that by bringing in Doan it may keep them from focusing on the future and consequently try to make moves to appease the fans and make the playoffs....which dont get me wrong, the team should try to make the playoffs...but they shouldnt make moves JUST to make the playoffs. If you follow me...

Haha I got ya...dealing Bouwmeester and adding Doan for 2 years wouldn't change their current situation. Although you are right it should be focussed more on youth.

If they moved Jbo, it would be for something younger...and by doing that and bringing in Doan...it still wouldnt mean they are necessarily leaning in any which way lol. So I would be fine with that.

I think the best deal, with respect to Iginla, is to sign him to a good contract 3-5 years and ensure that, if they are not challenging strongly for the playoffs, that he will consider being moved.

I very much doubt he doesnt resign this summer, because that ultimately means he wants out (which Im not convinced he does) and that the trade value wouldnt be as high, than if he were signed a little longer.

Trading Bouwmeester and then signing Doan would allow them to gain some assets and maybe save a little cash. Could be a shrewd move if they believe the defence could hold up.

Doan is a big piece to any team...although the question is, does Doan want to play for a Flames team who has been a playoff bubble team for the last 3 years...and one where there still is no certain direction to be expected....yet?

If Feaster can convince him that his plan is to make a few more tweaks this year, get better than make a few more next year and compete in the playoffs then maybe he would consider it, being a local boy. However, there are many other teams who may be much more enticing, and Feaster may not have the cash to offer to him...

I really like the Culkin, Gordon and Sieloff picks.
