I stated this earlier. If we still had Roy, I wouldve gone after Doan or Semin. Without Roy, we should no longer pursue Semin and go after Doan. Id give him a 3 year deal worth 5.75M AAV. Something like $8M year 1 ($3M signing bonus), $5.5M year 2 ($2M signing bonus, $3.75M year 3.

Its not letting PK walk, we are walking away from him.

I do wanna give PK one more year. I hated him last year but it doesn't look like he's gonna go anywhere. Like I said, the only thing he has on Tropp right now is experience. That's probably the only reason why he's a safer pick to be on the penalty kill than Tropp.

Good Time at Sabres Camp today. Armia stood out. Wish he could suit up for us next year. McCabe looks like he is gonna be good. Sabres have alot of talented young d-men. CoHo and Foligno are out of place at this camp. Grigs has a nice skill set. I was impressed with Girgensons shot.

It does create an unbalance in our lineup as we would have too many top 9 wingers (7): Vanek, Pommer, Leino, Ott, Doan, Foligno, Stafford.

I think if we got Doan, Ott would have to play center and Grigs goes back to juniors.

I feel like we would be taking a gamble if we waited until October to give Grigs a 9 game tryout to see if hes ready to play center in the NHL.

This would be a very nice problem to have, right?

Actually, no. Because then you have to play a wing at center

Ott isn't a center.. he just takes face-offs.. just because a player takes lots of face-offs, doesn't automatically make him a center. He specializes in up the boards play along with net camping. If we get Doan, we can roll the 3 scoring line thing like we did in '06/'07.

Bring it on.

Don't worry, we do that on a regular basis anyway.

I would try to sign Doan in a heart beat if he decides to leave Phoenix. But I highly doubt he will go to Buffalo though. I would think he would place himself in a situation where he has a great shot at winning the cup. But hey you never know.

The odds are definitely against us in landing Doan but if our offer is very aggressive we may have a shot, add on an additional year might do the trick. Maybe instead of a 3 yr deal offer him 4 yrs.

I never said Ott was a center. I said we have an abundance of top 9 wingers (Ott was included in the list) and that out of all of them I'd probably slot Ott to center.

Please dont tell me youd have Leino play center.

And if that's the only other option since you have Doan playing the boards and behind the net, Ott playing the boards and in front of the net, that leaves Leino at center. And I wouldn't expect a guy who makes 4.5 mil a year to play on the 4th line.. As of now, he's either on the 2nd line or the 3rd line.

Wait so ott isn't a center?????

That's news to me. It's almost like no one has mentioned that in every blog since we drafted him.

I'd even make it a 5 year deal. But then you'd be dealing with a 5.5-6M cap hit when he is 40. Or you can do what the Flyers did with Pronger and add on 2 extra years at league minimum. (Oops cant do that anymore)

7 year, $33.25M, $4.75M cap hit -- $10M ($5M SB), $8M ($3M SB), $5.25M, $4M, $4M, $1M, $1M

Well, let's get him in here, even if it means offering him a 4 year deal.
