I'd add Foligno to the mix of guys who would mix it up.....can't understand why anyone would ever put Christian Ehrhoff as a guy who would fight. Hes not a scrapper, and yes I know he fought like twice last year. My best guess is that that was out of the norm. Not that you can predict all out brawls or who would be on the ice when any given brawl touched off. - twistedwrister9
which is why i stated maybe along with Stafford. Ehrhoff had developed a mean streak which was pretty refreshing to see, just like when Neil cheap shotted Drury and Stafford came in flying. I really wish Staff was more physical in his game.

He has always been a good third line player. He also always was a moron who on any given shift would drive somebody neck first into the boards. - Gunner Staal
wasn't he the elbow guy from not this past year but the year before??
okay not a goon.. I take that back... but maybe I just meant he is known to be a dirty player...
I wonder if vince needs to take pills on a daily basis sometimes - homiedclown
sure seems that way. Seems that should be the case with many of the posters that have shown up recently. I read some real out there sh!t over the past few days
Regarding this talk about Scott, Kaleta, Ott, etc.... here is my take from earlier since it fits in:
I'd like a 4th line of Gerbe - Porter - Tropp.
I think with Ott you dont necessarily have the need for guys like McCormick and Kaleta to play on a regular basis.
Id even consider walking away from Kaleta, I think Tropp can provide the hitting and shot blocking that Kaleta provided with a little more offensive upside. Hes also cheaper. Which leaves McCormick and Scott to fill in for 30-40 games when you take one of Tropp and Gerbe off.
If you look at NJ 4th line last year that was successful in the playoffs, Gerbe - Porter - Tropp is a similar line to that of Gionta - Carter - Bernier.

You've said that before.
What Kaleta has over Tropp as of right now is experience. Personally, I think Tropp is a more skilled Kaleta; but still. Kaleta has years of experience on the kid and would be a little more stable on the PK.

okay... so when I use the term "goon" everyone immediately thinks I'm calling a guy Georges Laraque or John Scott...
I guess I just use the term Goon in terms of a dirty player... dirty hits.. gets suspensions..
fair enough... poor word usage. - JVince11
Goon to me is somebody who cant play a lick and is on the ice for one reason and one reason only. Use your avatar is the guiding example.
In the present day NHL, I dont feel that those players have a useful role in the league anymore. The great days of the Rob Rays, Bob Proberts, Tony Twists and all the others are over. The instigator rule neutered them. Now nobody has to fight them if they dont want to, while before there was no choice in the matter.

2 years ago I remember hearing how Staff changed his offseason work out. While he didnt quite record a lot of hits, he did step up his game last year. He was 3rd on our team in hits recording 102.
Foligno had 44 in 14 games. Over a full season thats Ott like numbers.

fair enough.... noted... I would just associate Goon with whoever the best fighter or lead PIM player is on a team..

Id like to see Myers start getting 100+ hits. - theblueandgold
dude I wrote that exact same stat line on Stafford earlier today...THEIF
(kidding)
Foligno might be my favorite player on this team...

just my opinion. - awildmudkip
I pulled a Garth copy and paste. No one responded to it earlier because Gunnar came in and started another Roy discussion
I think Tropp is more than capable of filling in for Kaleta, time to walk away from PK.

what 1 player would you target right now for the sabres?

I stated this earlier. If we still had Roy, I wouldve gone after Doan or Semin. Without Roy, we should no longer pursue Semin and go after Doan. Id give him a 3 year deal worth 5.75M AAV. Something like $8M year 1 ($3M signing bonus), $5.5M year 2 ($2M signing bonus, $3.75M year 3.
Tropp also has more upside
I am ok giving kaleta 1 more year, but not against letting him walk - homiedclown
Its not letting PK walk, we are walking away from him.
