Wow, why is everyone writing off Luke Adam. The guy was a rookie last year and then he fell on hard times. What makes everyone think he hasn't learned from the demotion and has all summer to work hard to get to where he needs to be. I mean give the guy a couple of years before everyone can write him off. The guy is a shooter. We know he needs to work on his skating and defense but to write someone off this quick is foolish. - SabresFan73
His stats with Rochester after the demotion were abysmal. |

When the Penguins won the last cup Staal had 4 goals and 9 points in the playoffs as 3rd line center, that should be interesting for all the Buffalo fans who think that 3rd line centers don't need to score a single goal(Goose). If I had a dollar for all the times Paul Hamilton and other Buffalo morons said "Goose is not paid to score and I don't care if he ever scores a playoff goal" I would be rich. If your bottom 6 players never score any playoff goals you won't win a cup. BlackHawks had Bolland who had 8 playoff goals and 8 assists. It looks like Buffalo could have 3 scoring centers this season which would be nice, hodgson, ennis and Grig. |

I watched every home game Luke Adam played in Rochester after the send down, the guy is a turtle and Lindy will not have him play again in the NHL. Once you get on Lindy's hit list you are done.

From the sounds of it hes 5'8" and isnt a good skater. If youre that small you better be able to burn around guys or you arent going too far in the NHL. - Rally_Shots
I was thinking because he cross checked some guy in the face |

I was unaware that Derek Roy was a 3rd line center in 2010-11?
The site I get Corsi from doesnt go as far back as 2006-07 when Derek Roy was a center on the third line.
However, Derek Roy is better than Staal in Offensive Corsi from 07-08 to 11-12. Worse defensive, and 8/1000ths below in total Corsi when Roy was a top line C and Staal was a 3rd line C.
Roy had 63 points and +37 as a 3rd line C in 2006-07. Staal has never put up those numbers as a 3rd line C. - theblueandgold
Goals per Game have decreased in the NHL since then. On average 6GPG in '06/'07 against 5.3 last year. Doing the math on inflated numbers since then, it's about ~11.5% difference. Roy's 63 points can become 55 in last year's NHL where Jordan Staal scored 25G and 25A where Derek Roy scored 21G and 42A in the '06/'07 inflated season.
Just to compare different years. |

Adam looked very good today. I think he will be fine on the wing from now on. The sabres would be stupid to cast him to the side he has a lot of skill. |

Compare how Roy played a full season at #3C and Jordan Staal got top line minutes since Crosby was injured. So lets deduct %20 for the games he played top line and Derek Roys 55 points adjusted still stand up tremendously to Staal's 40 points as third line centers.
Lets use more hypotheticals! |

Given more hypotheticals Roy played up against other 3rd lines where Staal went up against other top lines..
