Derek Roy in 2010-2011:

Out of the Sabres who played in at least 20 games that season for Buffalo

Roy ranks 15th out of 22 in relative Corsi.

He ranks DEAD LAST in the Relative Corsi Quality of Competition.

He also was 2nd on the team in the % of his shifts that start in the offensive zone (61.3). How does a guy that gets the benefit of starting in the other teams zone more than half the time have such a crumby relative Corsi rating?

- Gunner Staal

Its called the coach having a man crush on you! Lindy has to GTFOutta here!

It's what I would be totally focused on where I Darcy at this point.

I would stop at nothing to get those two on the team this coming season to pair with Ott on a nasty line.

more goals, assists, points, and plus/minus than jordan staal ever achieved.

all i need to know as a third line player.

roy was 1st on his team this year in terms of starting in the defensive zone. Maybe thats the reason he had such a bad offensive year... i doubt it though.

Patrick Roy's son Fredrick was at the camp today. Does anyone know why he was never drafted? He looked pretty good.

I was unaware that Derek Roy was a 3rd line center in 2010-11?

The site I get Corsi from doesnt go as far back as 2006-07 when Derek Roy was a center on the third line.

However, Derek Roy is better than Staal in Offensive Corsi from 07-08 to 11-12. Worse defensive, and 8/1000ths below in total Corsi when Roy was a top line C and Staal was a 3rd line C.

Roy had 63 points and +37 as a 3rd line C in 2006-07. Staal has never put up those numbers as a 3rd line C.

why are we still pissing on each other about Roy? The dude(tte) is no longer on the team...

We sucked with Roy in the line up and we still sucked with him out of the lineup. We also played well with him in and with him out. He was not the only problem with this team.

Hodgson:
"work on his strength and conditioning so that he can be of more value to his Buffalo teammates"- Garth

Why would Hodgson need to work on his conditioning? I thought he was already working out with Gary Roberts the greatest trainer in the history of the world. I'm sick of hearing about Hodgson and his tree trunk legs and how flat his tummy is, all I care about is if can give a better effort next year and put up points. When Lindy talks about Hodgson and his legs he sounds like a Penn State assistant coach taking about a young man in the shower.

How come Ennis gives a better effort and didn't work out with Gary Roberts?

I guess I am confused, am I supposed to take offense to the Jordan Staal comments? Am I really supposed to believe that I would have rather had Derek Roy on the Penguins instead of Jordan Staal?

From the sounds of it hes 5'8" and isnt a good skater. If youre that small you better be able to burn around guys or you arent going too far in the NHL.

Im not quite sure why you brought him up then. Roy produced more as a 3rd line center than Staal did.

When Malkin and Crosby are youre top two C, what does losing Jordan Staal have to do with anything? I wouldnt even be mad about that.

Is Jordan Staal supposed to be a top line center? Better than Derek Roy at that position? We'll see if Jordan can put up 80 points this year being the top guy. When he puts up over 80 points, I'll concede to the fact that Jordan Staal is a top center. I dont see it happening.

Doesn't make sense for Blues to move their #2 scorer.... 25yrs old. I'm in! They would want Stafford + back.... I'm in!!!

Wow, why is everyone writing off Luke Adam. The guy was a rookie last year and then he fell on hard times. What makes everyone think he hasn't learned from the demotion and has all summer to work hard to get to where he needs to be. I mean give the guy a couple of years before everyone can write him off. The guy is a shooter. We know he needs to work on his skating and defense but to write someone off this quick is foolish.

its this attitude on why they have been mediocre. Its always oh give him another year then oh another year then the next thing you know you have well "the core" all who have lost all trade value and clearly wont make your roster a winning one.
