Arnott, Ennis, and Kaleta may be more. Kaleta being ~1.5, Ennis being ~3 and Arnott being ~3.5
but that's a solid line-up. - awildmudkip
Kaleta will not be getting $1.5M.
I would guess the required raise is all he will be getting.
I could see both Ennis and Arnott getting $3M and $3.5M respectively.
If that is the case, ship out another one of the D-men if need be.
Make it work! |

That's assuming Ennis and Arnott would play for that money. Seems reasonable though. - Buffalo--Sabres
We dont need both arnott and doan at a 9m+ cap hit... We need a veteran presence and doan would be thag alone..
I dont think we need arnott for 3m either.. |

Arnott won a cup. How many other cup winners do we have on the team? |

I'm greedy and want them both.
Doan is really worth $5M at most, but I added a million assuming it would take that incentive to get him to Buffalo.
A line of Ott - Arnott - Doan would be hell to play against, and especially come playoff time.
They would seriously soften up the other team for both the Ennis and Hodgson lines. |

Since the lockout no team has won the Cup without anybody on the roster that had previously won the Cup.

it probably won't be tonight... its date night.. haha
I'm still mad at the latest roster update for NHL.. it still doesn't have Foligno up with the big boys... and it has Hecht starting |

If we had both I would be talking Stanley cup. Particulary in Doans case I think he would enjoy playing with Vets like Miller, Reghr, Vanek, Pommer. Guys who know their roles and dont have to lean on him as much. I really think It would work. |

|
alright f'it
Vanek - Grigorenko - Pommer
Ott - Hodge - Leino
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Scott - McM - Kaleta
Gerbe
Myers - Leopold
Ehrhoff - Sulzer
Regehr - Sekera
Weber
LETS RUN THIS SH!T!!!
(God I wish we would trade Sekera for Stewart and bring up McNabb.) - JVince11
I'd like a 4th line of Gerbe - Porter - Tropp.
I think with Ott you dont necessarily have the need for guys like McCormick and Kaleta to play on a regular basis.
Id even consider walking away from Kaleta, I think Tropp can provide the hitting and shot blocking that Kaleta provided with a little more offensive upside. Hes also cheaper. Which leaves McCormick and Scott to fill in for 30-40 games when you take one of Tropp and Gerbe off.
If you look at NJ 4th line last year that was successful in the playoffs, Gerbe - Porter - Tropp is a similar line to that of Gionta - Carter - Bernier.

Yeah that thier "we quit for the season" roster. I think its meant to make you want the new game. I wont be on either tonight, going to the Homerun derby. Later this week though. |

It would all depend on Hodgson and Ennis, but the key is with a line of Ott Arnott and Doan, they would have a much, much lighter load on their shoulders. |

Crosby had the highest points per game in the NHL with those 37 points at 1.68. Perhaps that is why that does not apply to Roy. - Gunner Staal
Youre just furthering the cause for my argument really. No one ever said Roy is equal to Crosby, nor was the comparison even used in the argument that was ongoing.

This is just me.. but I'd rather have Doan on the second line than Stafford. Just an opinion. |

With a $70M cap, $3 mil is less than the average for a 22 man roster. I think the vet presence/leadership plus his physicality, plus the 30-40 pts he would put up would make him worth $3 mil.
It's more than he made last year, but you still have to convince him to come to Buffalo. The whole Hockey Heaven thing just ain't there yet. |

I consider the Ott Arnott Doan line as line number 2 and Foligno Ennis Stafford as line number 3. |

I was reading back through blogs in 2009 trying to find something earlier today and I recall people female doging about Hecht 3.5M (which I agreed with).
Looking at Hechts 3.5M 5 years ago really puts giving a 3rd line C 3M now into perspective. It also puts Gaustad's new contract into perspective too. I dont think its all that bad. |

I didnt even bring Roy up. Someone else did. I had to correct them on their wrong opinions that Roy didnt contribute to our team early in the 2010-11 season.
Roy was a better 3rd line center than Staal was too. |

Not with the offensive production they produced together, I don't.
But that's all opinion. The fact that we're making a debate about how good those lines are is pretty awesome. Rolling with 3 scoring lines like we did in '06/'07 is a beautiful thing. Not to mention on some nights, you may want to favor a line with a water-bug type like Ennis, where others, you just need that much more muscle in Doan. Getting Arnott AND Doan this off season would give Darcy an A+ from me.
Doan did kind of bash our team when he came to our building to get beat pretty bad.. I think he complained that at the last minute of the game, we were on the power-play and Ruff wanted to pad the goal total by adding a forward on D when we were already up 3 or 4 - 1. |

Derek Roy in 2010-2011:
Out of the Sabres who played in at least 20 games that season for Buffalo
Roy ranks 15th out of 22 in relative Corsi.
He ranks DEAD LAST in the Relative Corsi Quality of Competition.
He also was 2nd on the team in the % of his shifts that start in the offensive zone (61.3). How does a guy that gets the benefit of starting in the other teams zone more than half the time have such a crumby relative Corsi rating? |

I meant in terms of the Ennis line having a much better chance of producing facing the other teams 3rd lines.
I would actually begin games with Ott Arnott Doan against the more difficult teams to play against.
Let that line crush the other teams top lines and then let the Hodgson and Ennis lines go and focus on putting the puck in the net. |

It's no secret that Ruff usually starts his games with his 3rd line.
Ott // Arnott // Doan would be your 3rd line. However it wouldn't surprise me if both that line and the Foligno // Ennis // Stafford line both get ~15 minutes of ice time a game. Given Vanek // Hodgson // Pominville get ~18 and the 4th line gets ~6 |
