Very similar situation to the Buffalo Bills. Both the Wild and Bills were meaningless nothing franchises in the leagues they play in. They both went out and signed the biggest fish. Their performance on the field is only half the equation. The other half is bringing notoriety and respect back to the franchise which in turn makes it more desirable for other quality players to want to join. - Gunner Staal
Well my personal opinion has it that Minny's offense was already pretty good on paper.. and with Parise just got even better..
Parise, Heatley, Koivu, Setoguchi, Bouchard, and Bozak..
Their D is where the questions are..
Suter - Gilbert
after that it is Stoner, Kampfer, Falk, Prosser, and Scandella... The rookie Brodin could come up..
With Semin Vanek and Grigs, you'd be forcing your 2nd, 3rd and spotty 4th liners to spend to much time on the PK.
Then, with people like Pommers, PK, Staff and McMuscles playing PK time (since Vanek and Semin love to take lazy penalties in their own zone), you'd be giving Van, Sem and Grigs a lot of ice time.
And we all know how streaky Van and Semin are...
I don't want anything to do with Semin. - Chipd
but I thought we needed more scoring?
semin puts up parise points and a fraction of the cap hit
seems with foligno, leino, ott
there is a log jam there
move him and try to get 1 more center or that RW needed - homiedclown
I think I'd rather move Leino, even if it's for nothing...
Or...
Lindy has said he like Vanek over at RW and has played him there at times,
Maybe that's a solution?

Still have no idea why that option was not explored last year for the Sabres. - Gunner Staal
I inquired about Arnott....some guys in the brain trust like him, others think he is too slow. I think Darcy is on the too slow side, but not 100% sure. - Homer
Grigorenko is one thing as he was a top 4 skater in the draft...
but Girgensons making the team!?!?
I might not know a lot of history.. but isn't it that outside of top 10 picks or so a player making the team in his first year is pretty small?? - JVince11
yup...but from everything i've read, he won't let history stand in his way

Most times teams picking outside of the top 10 dont have as many holes to fill, making it harder for young players to find a spot.

am i the only one that thinks he can hit 30 next yr if we keep ennis.
everyone is complaining we cant score anymore. we got rid of one player. one! one that barely gave us offense that past two season. and yes i know he was hurt but still. we now have the same players that can score. van, pommer, hodge, ennis, staff, foligno, leino (maybe one day) gerbe. plus it is very probable that grigs can make the team, he can score and help his line mates score a little more. i dont know why everyone is freaking out. so what if we don't score as much as the pens or nucks or bruins. as long as we win games. i know we are probably not done tweaking the roster but i am ok with it the way it is now give or take a few players (adam, grigs, tropp, mcnabb)
so stop your b*tching.
end of rant. - LizzyJo
Here we go again with this absurd statement. Had a bad year last year. Was injured the previous year, although he was a point a game player prior to his injury... contributing mostly by dishing the puck.
chris krieder ( who I insisted the sabres draft instead of kassian) played fewer games and showed more promise than Hodgson. Hodgson is not going to have a "breakout" year.

If this is true, it's disheartening. - buffalofan19
Too slow for what? What a contradiction in keeping Gaustad for all those years and then shunning Arnott who is a way better version of him (way better).
