Since Salo left, things are mighty confusing in the pairings. Canucks just signed that Florida guy for a 176 year contract at 14gillion..... ya see.... I just donèt know right now.

He just cracked another brew on his boat. I think he's got a 11am tee-time tomorrow too.

If the Leafs could sign Doan I would poop myself. Not a player I would rather see on this team than him.
- stevecarpetman

I think Doan is the real catch this year. At his age, if someone gave him a 4 year deal at upper 4s or low 5s. They front load the contact and then take the last year as an option year.

I'd love him to. I'd like him on the third, most others wouldn't though.

Burn,

Due to his previous concussion the insurance company won't insure his contract

- faceto27

Sigh, this is exactly what I'm talking about. He didn't have a reported concussion until after he signed in Nashville, missed all but 2 games. His concussion has nothing to do with the insurance. He's not insured because the team chose to take a risk and not insure him to save money. it backfired.

I see no need to gut our depth in order to get a top line center. Those who might be available are no better than what we already have. Give JVR a chance. He might just surprise all of us.

98% is being kind.

And imagine.... they are using Twitter. Who knew this interweb thingie would take off! SCREW the DRAFT, SCREW TRADES....maybe they have email now too... now THAT is an exciting article.

The funny thing is is that Julie is biting off the hand that feeds her. Twitter will soon make sites like this as valuable as todayès newspaper.

The only time that College Hockey gets a look, is when a prominant free agent appears or a player that refuses to sign after 4 years, ala Justin Schultz. I really couldn't care less about the Vermont Catamountes, or any other beanpot tournament. Major Junior Hockey turns out about 75% of the players for the NHL, yet garners very little interest. Same with Europe. When Julie was oversea's and reporting on the World Junior Championship, via blog, I saw very few hits or comments. Of course, here in Canada, we see it live, everywhere and there is access via NHL Network, stateside. Now, I wonder when we'll ever see NHL Network, in HD, here in Canada? It's been on in the states for a few years now.

Perhaps your right.... Bottom line his contract is uninsured which makes him risky to some of the teams

If the Leafs trade a 1st for Luongo it is almost gauranteed that he will get hurt and miss the season, and Van picks McKinnon, which would cause mass suicide in Toronto.
- robin_steele264

Something similar will happen for sure. In addition to 45 years of comedic mismanagement, they also suffer from some pretty bad luck.

I'd rather have Doan than Nash. Parise and Suter might be above him in talent, but when it comes to heart and leadership, this is the guy you want on your team. This is a guy Burke should over pay for. He has signed Komi, Connolly and they have said that although they haven't produced they are good in the room. Doan is the room!!! He might clash with Dion but man, this guy takes nothing for granted.

I am sure there is a beer league somewhere that could use him after he is fully healed.

That's all I said...The deep pocket teams (Leafs) wont care. If he's not playing there is no cap hit, if he is then hopefully he's providing what the team had hoped for.

I think Burke is in the right mindset, he is actually patient unlike most Leafs fans. JVR and Reimer are two very talented players with question marks. I don't think he wants to run with them but will if he has too. And therefore won't over pay or get desperate to bring someone else in.

He's not available.

Also, Grabo only had 6 less points and scored 12 more goals. He's not worth what it'll take to get him out of Anaheim.

This is exactly what the Leafs need. Perhaps if all the other clowns that ran this team in the past had been patient, we wouldn't be in this mess.

How many of you would be ok with Burke overpaying for Doan? Everyone on here loved Army and he is like Doan extra light.

I'm for patience, and think we should have been a little more patient the past couple years instead of this mediocrity we've had.

We don't need washed up 35+ year old players.

Let the kids play. Some team will overpay for him. He's not worth it at this stage of his career.
