Still, he didn't, and that's kind of pathetic to see a team suck so long and not have a Calder in there. - gravyface
Both Hall and Hopkins were in the lead to win the Calder until they got hurt. That's not pathetic, it's just unlucky. |

You know what sucks really bad? The last Leaf to win a major NHL award. Might have been Brit Selby, in 1967, who won the Calder. No Hart, No Norris, No Vezina's, No Ross. No appearance in the final since 1967. Now that sucks bad! |

That's a bit of stretch. Gilmour played half of his career and won a Cup before he even came to Toronto. Sundin also had the Swedish factor on his side which seems odd but being the first ever European trained 1st overall pick and all of his accomplishments with the Swedish team, I'd say it was probably a 50/50 split for Sundin. |

Gilmour winning the Selke is pretty significant because at that point in time he was widely considered the best player in the game. Although the awards didn't reflect it, a Selke with 127 points is a significant accomplishment. |

Please don't ever mention that award....it should be called "congrats you had an issue to face and you came back to play a game that pays you millions!" |

I'm gonna side with finishing with 127 points and getting called the best defensive forward a pretty major accomplishment. |

I think Gilmour's years in Toronto were a huge part of his HOF resume, it showed he had at least a couple of years were he was arguably one of the most dominant players in the game, which I think he was at his peak.
With Sundin it's his PPG career and international play, and most of his dominant play was with Toronto |

Well, sure, if the guy had to combat headaches while watching movies. But guys who've battled cancer, or other lifethreatening issues, like blood infections, and managed to come back- they should get some recognition. |

Yes, the Masterson is a "good job, you came back and reclaimed your career" trophy. The Selke is a middling award and sometimes overlooks the reality of a good checking forward. Would Gilmour have won this trophy, if he had 35 points as a good checking centre? |

Gilmour is 17th alltime in points. That alone is HOF worthy. Toronto didn't make a difference. If he had put up those # he'd be a HOF'er anywhere.end of story. |

If that were the case, then Gilmour should have won the Hart Trophy, as most valuable player. |
