jetison whatever vets you can, go with as much youth as possible and see what happens.

i personally dont see the big deal about the playoffs.. sure it would be nice.. but only if they made it there with guys who will be part of the mold moving forward.. i dont want veteran guys who will only be around 2-3 years tops.. that will do nothing but make them a middle of the pack playoff team who makes the 2nd round and perhaps scrapes their way into the 3rd round

I didn't say no talent... there are many different types and levels of talent. If he's a hard/smart worker, we'll see the talent he has over time.
He was hopefully a free assest(like a draft pick) as this signing could be pretty pointless in a year or three. That's part of the reason he was such a hot commodity.

Im gonna ignore this.

Every team needs quality vets.....we dont have any, but I'm all for signing a quality vet to help these kids.

my post was more about clogging the system up and less about mentorship

and yes, i do agree playoffs would be valuable.. the balance needs to be kept.. so long as there is room for younger guys to make an impact i am happy

all vets = bad

yet all rookies = also bad

getzlaf now...i dont think hes worth gbov, kule and a first round pick.

That'd be a pretty intense offseason: Getzlaf and Luongo. It won't happen, but if it did that'd be a pretty impressive and, yes, giving up a first in that case wouldn't be a huge deal.

grabovski isnt all that much worse, but is strong, healthy and probley my favorite player on the leafs right now.

Grabs highest point total was 58...Getzlaf's lowest was 57 (although it happened to be last year)...Getz is the big #1 centre we have needed/wanted since Sundin left...
With Getz, and some steady goaltending, the 1st rounder might be around 15 or so...
If you can get a signed Getz for those 2 and the 1st, you do it...

Colborne, Bozak, Kulemin, 1st/2nd would be better, imo...would give the Ducks two centers, one of which could be a good 2nd line guy...and a solid pick....

not really...hes given his two choices, but its up to Gillis..he wont just move Luongo for less to Florida cause he likes it more than Toronto...he will take the best deal from whatever team offered the most. I doubt he even discusses the deals with Luongo, only asked him where he is willing to go.
