And until there collaspe (which everyone blamed on the coaching), they were in 5- 6th spot at February.
I agree, they need better goaltending....but they are not a bottom 3 team...

- Fakepartofme

I differ with your opinion. They have not improved over last years team. All the teams around them have improve expedentially. Leafs went into last season without a number one centre and a proven starting goaltender. One year later, neither hole has been addressed.

Can't hurt to Kijiji it and see if you get any hits...

Yeah thats what I was thinking...cause its a newer deck and I feel bad for tearing it down...but it takes up waaay too much of the yard and I need the space for the dogs etc. So...

Thanks though guys!

There is no way this team has the same kind of Collapse under Carlyle. Likewise they probably don't have the same win streak they had early in the year.

Just as they weren't as good as there play indicated early on, they were not really as bad as they finished either.

3 more wins would have put them alone in 10th last year, and that is not asking a lot given the number they lost during the collapse.

they are not a bottom 5 team. The teams that improved have not improved substantially.

Oh sorry bix didnt understand the question. I only did a walk through and will be putting in an offer for the house, so Im not entirely sure, but from doing a quick inspection of the yard/deck it appeared to be screwed in.

And its pretty big. Im going to say 10 x 14-16....type of wood uncertain.

You might not think that Columbus could be better, but then remember, they've augmented their defence and goaltending. With the right system, they can be competitive with many clubs, in the west. Once they trade Nash, what they get in return could make them more competitive, from the team that finished the season.
- JohnnyReb

They haven't even come close to doing that...think about this for a second...How desperate do you have to be to think "Geee, I really need some goaltending, I should call Philly for help"

Bobrovski has proven nothing, he had an absolutely terrible season last year and now he's off to man the pipes for a significantly worse team.

If the leafs traded for Bobrovski and said your exact sentance, your reply would've looked something like this:

A correct asumption. Leafs are not a playoff team, as they are constituted today. Without a first line centre, they have no hope of making the playoffs. Adding a Luongo, only takes them out of the lottery and not a playoff spot. The Leaf can't improve their standing, when you look at what the teams around them have done, to improve their teams. Habs had a much better draft, added depth to their bottom 6 and have their top player in Cary Price, resigned long term. The Islanders also improved, by adding Lubomir Visnovsky plus many of their high end prospects are starting to round into form. The Hurricanes added Jordan Staal. Tampa added Lindback in goal, so where has Toronto improved over their divisional competition? No, Leafs are destined to 15th in the conference and should just sit pat and tank this coming season, then use the new CBA to augment their roster, one year from now.
- JohnnyReb

I agree that the Leafs are not a playoff team as they currently stand but I think adding Luongo would put them in the playoff picture. The Leafs missed the playoffs by 12 points, that's six wins. We had terrible goaltending for long stretches of time. You could argue that they could make it this year with the same lineup if their goaltending doesn't collapse like it did last year (and a large portion of that was because of Reimer's injury). Adding a legitimate #1 keeper would easily have got them 6 more wins than they did last season.

The other teams around us have improved somewhat, sure, but the only notable one is the 'Canes with Staal. True the Oilers and Islanders should get better through virtue of their young players getting better but that theory would also apply across all NHL teams, including the Leafs who were one of if not the youngest team in the NHL last year. The Habs added toughness but that mostly pays off in the playoffs (if they get there). Luongo > Lindback so if the Leafs do get Luongo it's a moot point that Tampa improved.

We know that Burke is not done yet so we'll have to see if he lands Luongo or upgrades at the centre position but some people are acting like we were dead last in the league all year long and finished 30 points out of 8th place. That's not what happened so there's no reason (other than it's the Leafs and people love to bash the Leafs) that they will be that bad this year.

Screws are removed easily and most of the sood can be saved and used in another project. If nailed together, you are (frank)ed..scrap wood.. too much time and effort to remove the nails. Specially after 5 years.

Follow up question...cause there isnt much debate anyways...

Anyone know if people buy decks, or deck materials if I were to tear down a 5ish yaer old deck?

- noename09

I doubt you will get any money for it, but on the plus side, if you stack it neatly on the curb, some scrap dealer will drive by and scoop it up, so you don't have to haul it to the dump yourself.

Good luck with the bidding.

Prety sure its scrwed down...so may not be all too bad then. Most people are calling me crazy for tearing down a nice big deck to put down a stamped concrete slab...but the damn thing takes 75% of the friggn yard and I have two dogs lol

It will be about $1200 for the slab, not including the removal of the deck.
you'd be better to patio stone rather than concrete, no only is stone nicer, it usually last longer, wont crack and its much cheaper to replace if you decide to change your yard in the future.
A fire pit in a residential area, you'll have to get a permit for.

Apparently not. Do a little googling. Nasty chemical release, which is not good for your chimney - may cause chimney fires.

And it's a big fat NO if it is pressure-treated wood.

noticed when I got my permit it was illegal to burn pressure treated wood.

New it was not adviseable, but didn't know there was a bi-law against it...
