Not as close as others are speculating per my sources.. Also heard a Tampa rumor today that Gillis may be getting so frustrated with the low offers he may be re-considering a deal that would send Lecavalier to Vancouver for Luongo..Yzerman would do this deal I was told.

They aren't "low offers", they're fair offers. Gillis wants the moon and all the stars too. Has he never seen or heard of Luongo's contract? Tallon just needs to walk away from this, it will open up an entire different can of crap. Let Vancouver stew with this. It is not worth it for us. Toronto needs a goaltender, we don't. Go away!

Carle, Hedman, Brewer, Salo, Ohlund, Brian Lee, MAB and Keith Aulie is far from a bad d core.

It's pretty friggan solid. Assuming it stays realtively injury free. Keep in mind they also have a very, very strong farm team. Lots of talent in that organization right now. They are set for awhile.

Enstrom and Bogo make that unit far better than the one that will be iced in TB add to that the better goalie and them finishing ahead of TB isnt really that much of a stretch
