Conditional 1st Round Pick (subject to Weber re-signing in Edmonton), which turns in to a 3rd round pick (if Weber doesn't re-sign).

***Keep in mind that this would only guarantee the Oil 1-year of Weber, as no guarantees that he re-signs.

I don't care having the first overall just once to have a center franchise player

I don't think they'd even consider that. They'd let you talk to Weber and get a deal done, then charge you full price (what you offered, except swap out MSP for eithe RNH or Ebs)

Hmm, very good point.

I think Montreal and Buffalo got better, Florida and New Jersey got worst....I'm not sure about Tampa Bay.

There's an outside chance we could squeak in.

- clarkysduster

Caroline is the team that hurts. Jersey while getting worse is still a very talented team and will make the playoffs.

Florida depending on what happens has a good chance of winning that division. Yes, I said that. I still can't believe but I said it.

Just depends on the tending...go figure, eh?

Montreal is going to be one to watch for as well...with a talented tender like Price in net you always have a chance to make a splash...look no farther then Ottawa for evidence of that.

Speaking of Ottawa if Anderson doesn't play up to snuff I think they could find themselves in a more challenging spot for the playoffs then last year. If that's possible.

A lot of teams added to there core groups...we essentially have done nothing because in my mind the move of JVR - Schenn is simply a lateral one.

McClement while maybe possessing the skills to help improve the penalty kill won't be the key to us making the playoffs. When you look a the whole picture it's easy to see why some fans are so anxious with the management right now. We need something to get excited over...especially after all this bluster about the roster being different next year.

If it's the same I think Burke will lose any good will he has left. In my mind something will give but it won't be to the size or scope of what Toronto had envisioned. We just have to wait I guess.

**One thing I will add - I'm not for trading all our youth in ill advised deals for vets just to make the playoffs. Rather, I'm for giving our coach the tools he needs to run his system and make the team his own. However that's done is up to Burke and co. They're being paid to decide.

My predictions...

#1: The Leafs won't get Getzlaf/Luongo.
#2: Jimmy Rimmer and Scrivens will provide decent, not stellar goaltending.
#3: The Leafs will avoid last years meltdown and slip into 7th or 8th in the East.
#4: We'll get dropped in 5/6 in the 1st round but get the playoff monkey off our back.

Agree or disagree, but I feel the above is pretty realistic.

Anaheim will have at least one of them locked up before the TDL this year. Guaranteed.

Reason I use the TDL is because I think Anaheim will wait for the new CBA to discuss extensions and that means study/negotiation time after an agreement is reached.

TDL sounds about right.

top 3 nhl dman in the league, for a prospect who has failed to show any promise so far, a player who besides a monster 8 point game also has failed to show any promise, and a 1st?

So just spitballing here, but let's objectively talk about the potential playoff teams from the East. And please, no one get butthurt if your team isn't included.

In no order....

For sure:
NYR
Bos
Pits
Phil

Battling for 5-8:
Was
Buff
Tor
Ott
Car
Tamp
Flor
NJD

Not Battling
Mon
NYI
Winni

Insert your constructive changes (and why?)

Not sure about that i think they want to leave the ducks and we will have around 32 millions in cap space next year so we can offer them around 8 each and still have 16 millions to sign other players
