Yeah I get that im just saying they are better players.
Doan has never even been a ppg player, hes a good leader and hard worker but not a difference maker.. he would be like when the ducks signed Koivu. - OrangeKrush
Doan and Koivu comparison is ridiculous. The only thing they have in common is their ages but Doan is twice the player Mike Richards ever hoped to be. I use this comparison because as fellow flyer fans it is one guy you know a lot about. Even at their ages now there is probably not one GM that would take Richards over Doan right now even with the age difference. Doan is a rugged physical force and would knock the lights out of Richards in an altercation and match him on the scoreboard. |

PFFFFFFFTTTTT.......... Get rid of Luongo's brutal contract to take on another contract in lecalvelier which is just as bad if not worse. If gillis accepts this offer he will clearly be in the running with burke for the most overrated GM. - classic321
Seeing as the core of Gillis' team was put into place by Burke and Gillis has been unable to put it over the top, whereas Burke took a core in Anaheim and did put it over the top, I'd say Burkie's rating has some justification to it. |

I really dont see much difference between Koivu 3-4 years ago and Doan now but thats just my opinion |

Ottawa is the new Toronto. Involved in every significant player out there. Boy the leafs and sens are going to be powerhouses when Ek starts getting these "rumours" right |

Didn't see this post my bad, I don't think Montreal will finish higher I think they are both pretty even right now.
I just thought it was odd you had Montreal bottom 3 and Toronto fighting for 5th. - OrangeKrush
I didn't mean the Leafs would be fighting for 5th, it was just more like those teams would be filling up the bottom 4 playoff spots and i don't think those last three teams will finish in that spot necessarily, i just meant i don't see them pushing for 8th. I didn't really present my thoughts very well, lol |

It wouldn't make any sense for either team to trade Vinny for Luongo.
Plus, Vinny's contract will be a bigger anchor than Luongo's in a few years... |

Doan is a mediocre slug, always has been. 50-60 point a year forward who takes way too many stupid penalties, never grew. Hope to god he doesnt wind up a wing, still holding out hope for Semin, I guess. - yave1964
Wow! What kind of an idiot would rather Semin on there team than Doan... |

Definitely a great fit, but do you think they can pull it off? What would they need to give up? - hockeylax8621
I'm not sure. It will be pricey, though. Could fast track you guys, though. |

[quote=SameOld]Wow! What kind of an idiot would rather Semin on there team than Doan..
The kind who understands what Datsyuk could do with a pure sniper finally on his wing, the kind who has watched Doan take dumb penalty after dumb penalty and be talked up for his fiery play by the announcers, the kind of idiot who doesnt have a canadien bias and understands the difference between 40 goals from a headcase versus 20 goals from a so called leader, the kind of idiot who understands that sometimes a decent player who is often the best player on a bad team gets overrated, and a good player on a very good team gets underrated, anyone who would rather have Doan than Semin for the same money at this point in their careers doesnt understand the game. |

On the Hawks..
hearing they may be turning from the Luongo sweeps (they were remotely in anyway) and trying to make a trade to bring in Bernier.

My predictions...
#1: The Leafs won't get Getzlaf/Luongo.
#2: Jimmy Rimmer and Scrivens will provide decent, not stellar goaltending.
#3: The Leafs will avoid last years meltdown and slip into 7th or 8th in the East.
#4: We'll get dropped in 5/6 in the 1st round but get the playoff monkey off our back.
Agree or disagree, but I feel the above is pretty realistic. - clarkysduster
#1: Leafs won't get Getzlaf or Luongo. Correct!
#2: Reimer and Scrivens will provide adequet goaltending. Correct!
#3: Leafs will not have a meltdown at the end, but will start slowly and miss the playoffs. Incorrect!
#4: We won't be there, we will be in 15th place, out of the playoffs. Incorrect!!
I feel that my predictions are more realistic!!! |

Top 6 forward? Kane, Hossa? Probably Stalberg.. - ShudBeFamous
Stalberg would be my best guess. I doubt Hossa is moving and unless its Carey Price for Kane I don't see the Hawks moving Kane anywhere but Buffalo. |

I'm not sure how good of an asset Stan Bowman would be willing to throw in that deal. Maybe Frolik but I doubt any "very good" assets. |

tampa STILL ended up ahead of winnipeg last season... with a top 4 of hedman, brewer, Lee, and mikkelson and roli in net.
tampa still has the FAR superior team. btw peg, thanks for letting stammer get to 60 on you. - boltsfan48
you'd think tampa would be a dynasty team the way you talk them up
1 goal away from the finals to not making the playoffs and then a top contender with a pretty much rookie/young unproven for a long season goalie + adding carle and salo who is gtting older
tampa may make the playoffs but i dont see them winning the division |
