Yeah Larsson's not going anywhere. My stats predictor said he'd get exactly as many points as he would this season. Few d-men break out as 18 year olds. I think Fowler fed off the success of Anaheim's lethal pp that year and that's why he did so well.

But Larsson's a very smart d-man. He's so slick with the puck and once he works up his size and his skill some more, he'll be dynamite. Can't wait to see him hit his stride.

You guys are so fortunate he fell to you in the Draft. I think he's going to end up being the best player out of that draft.

I am not a Devils fan, obviously, if I was, I would start worrying!
Beside all these goofy and silly photos exchange of last seasons playoffs, you need to realize you are loosing lots of key elements of your team.
Off course, this is just my opinion, as a NHL fan.

oh, thanks for reminding us. haha, awesome.

I think, actually, I know the Sabres are bad. I know this because the Sabres roster is filled with overpaid underachievers. Off course, that is just my opinion as a NHL fan.

Now, you are being a jack@#$!!
The only idiot here that has no respect for NHL fans, and their opinions is YOU.
To hell with you, and your broke team!
I hope your team goes bankrupt, which is very much possible!
We might be bad, but we have a owner that can afford to have a team, not like yours.

What do we know? I mean look at the work the sabers did this past offseason and the success that followed. They are a premiere hockey club and we have no right to talk about such a storied franchise.

Based on what DeBoer had said, he wants to get a guy with an offensive mind. Him and Dave Barr see the defensive aspects, but he wants a assistant coach that will bring in a offensive point of view. I don't really know many of the assistant coaches, but I would assume they would try to get Stevens as the defensive assistant and either reluctantly have Dave Barr replace Oates, or find another guy and keep him in the press box.

oates might add kowalsky in washington anyway, but lou won't want to lose him-he is going to be an nhl coach within 3-5 years.

Why would Oates add Kowalsky? He probably barely even knows him, it's not like they coached together.

They know each other well, and worked in the same system. All the coaching staff from the 'a' and nhl are tight knit.

trade Greene or tallinder

- dmarsden2988

Why does everyone think Tallinder has trade value? Just because its convenient for us doesn't mean it is for the other side...

Should bring in DeBoer's assistants from Kitchener, make it truly his staff. One of his assistants took over as head coach there when he took the Panthers jobs, and another is still on the staff there.

What goes in to this stat predictor?
- rmdevil313

When I deal with minor leaguers, I add coefficients according to how difficult that league is (SEL is notoriously with little offense) though I can't check their ice time. Larsson didn't put up many points there. His age and overall offense of the team's forwards factored in. (I had 2g 16a, and that's exactly what he had, though he did it in 65 games)

I was quite a ways off on offense (especially Parise, I had him getting 99 cuz the only basis of stats I could use was from two years ago); sometimes things happen you can't predict cuz you obviously can't use these types of things to build championships. However, it does give you a good indicator of what kind of minutes they should be playing in a game. Last year, using these kinds of stats, I was able to determine that Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais in Montreal should have been playing first line minutes (and that's what happened this year).

Rookies are the most difficult to determine, especially if you don't know the ice time they're getting. If I compared the ice time players actually got this year with my GPM (goals per minute) score, it would probably come up very close to what actually happened.

I projected the D:
Greene 32 pts (he got 16 in 56 games, on pace for 23)
Larsson 18 pts (he got them in 65, so had he played the other 17, he was on pace for 23)
Tallinder 17 pts (got 6 in 39, on pace for 13)
Fayne 28 pts (got 17... really fell off midseason)
Volchenkov 14 pts (got 11 in 72, on pace for 13)
Salvador 11 pts (got 9)
(this doesn't account for Zidlicky or Taormina who also filled in and grabbed minutes)

Not a dynamite system but most systems are pretty flawed. I haven't done up this year yet (it takes like a month to do every team and the entire player database).

The bottom line is that since the lock-out, everyone has underestimated the Devils in every season. The D isn't what it used to be. Where will the goals come from? Blah blah blah. Always a borderline playoff team prior to the season, but somehow they've won 4 out of 7 division championships in that time.

So here they are again, barely a more than a month from a Finals appearance and people are counting them out. Just relax everyone. This isn't even close to a dire situation.
