I know we have only lost 2 assistant coaches and 1 top 6 player. They aren't the only reason we were in the cup. It's going to be fine lol. I trust Lou will keep us in the dark and do something or if he feels best to do nothing. - K-dizzle
top 3 player, engine of our 2-way aggressive forecheck, leader, making players around him better, etc. |

I'm going to be totally honest here, this is speaking as a regular fan and not as a Rangers fan and Devils hater. EVeryone talks about how great Henrique is and I just don't see it. Yeah, he scored 2 series clinching OT goals, but he was pretty invisible aside from that. I barely noticed him in the ECF and Finals. Maybe he does do the "little things" right but I seriously didn't see anything aside from the goals from him. - GOODPLAYA20
50+pts as a rookie, very good on pk and a calder candidate coz well i trust guys that know hockey more than you have a better clue about henrique
krieder looked good but he also was fresh compared to everyone else |

Would you want to have him with that kind of salary and not be able to afford other players that make him better and themselves. He was a big part of the team. Just time to move on. |

we'd be fine at that salary. Its never time to move on from a captain that benefits your team. It took us years after Stevens and Niedermayer left. Years of Elias, Gionta and Gomez in their prime.. we were like chickens with their heads cut off. Of course not having stable coaching didn't help either. |

Stop sensationalizing it. We had some bad playoff runs but we also won the division a couple of times too. It's not like we've been bottom feeders since we lost our best players. |

we were lost for a long time. we were just that good systematically and had enough good forwards left to keep making the playoffs. Brodeur helped us too.. winning back to back Vezinas. |

with the coaches we will be fine, barr is most likely ready to be an assistant coach (on the bench) and take on more defensive responsibilities and we all saw what he did with the PK
losing robinson will hurt but i feel confident with barr and its time to give him that job, as we all knew robinson wouldnt be here forever
with oats leaving i dont think we will be impacted negatively (if we get a player like semin who can make up for parise's offense) as i feel that whoever takes oats place can get the PP clicking at a better/more consistent rate
yes losing parise will suck SHORT term but over the long run other than his leadership i doubt he would be a top player, once he hits 33-34 he will go downhill fast as he doesnt have the skillset to carry him when he gets older and slower
but sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward
remember Lou and Co are very good at drafting even in the later picks, we have been competing for over 2 decades and very few teams in all sports can say that, and we have some very good prospects in merrill, gelinas, wedgewood, larsson, henrique.......so while our prospect depth is low the guys we have know how to step up (who knew that henrique would be a calder candidate)
while we have been drafting in the 20's teams like edmonton, ny islanders, minny, have all been drafting in the top 5 or top 10 year after year and struggle to make the playoffs let alone going far, yes they may have bright futures but who knows if their prospects will even work out and if they all play to their potential are the teams going to be able to afford all of them? |

How is that being lost, exactly? Can't win it all every year. |

we went from winning the Stanley Cup to 1st and 2nd round exits year after year. They seemed to have lost their swag for a good while. The hall of fame defense was replaced with scrubs. Leadership was hard to come by. |

Yeah Larsson's not going anywhere. My stats predictor said he'd get exactly as many points as he would this season. Few d-men break out as 18 year olds. I think Fowler fed off the success of Anaheim's lethal pp that year and that's why he did so well.
But Larsson's a very smart d-man. He's so slick with the puck and once he works up his size and his skill some more, he'll be dynamite. Can't wait to see him hit his stride. |

I am not a Devils fan, obviously, if I was, I would start worrying!
Beside all these goofy and silly photos exchange of last seasons playoffs, you need to realize you are loosing lots of key elements of your team.
Off course, this is just my opinion, as a NHL fan.

What a brutal offseason for the Devils. Very excited to have Larry with the Sharks though. |
