then why hasnt luongo been traded yet? no one wants that contract unless gillis is taking a bad one back. leafs can obviously afford it financially, but in a salary cap world, 5.6M for like 10 years is brutal. - sensnucksnocups
Not in a cap world of 70 Million.
Maybe when the cap was upper 50s but you are not doing your homework.
I mean... you are the one who says they want a real conversation yet you preface the point by stating that the Canuck fan think Gillis holds the cards.
Gillis is in a poor spot. But not a horrible one. He can wait.

To van: Frolik, montador, fairly good prospect, maybe a crappy pick? (5th?)
Honestly if i were bowman i would not give much more than that... maybe a couple of signed pucks from toews |

What are you thoughts.... doe sthe average Chicago fan want him? I mean, if it was a D-man or Forward, he may be able to get away with a bad game here and there but teh first bad game Lou has in a Chicago uniform..... I mean, form my perspective.. is that the haters will be out in full force. |

Honestly... none of those names thrill me. I think Gillis wants picks and prospects and maybe Lupul.
None of those guys will a Canuck need. |

LOL canucks fans are hilarious. even after luongo says he thinks his time is done in vancouver, you still think gillis has leverage.
i really wish i can have a decent conversation with a nucks fan to discuss the luongo situation, but it seems all of the ones here think gillis has the upper hand - sensnucksnocups
Gillis has the upper hand over luongo. Luongo does not and will not accept being a backup. Gillis does not need to move Luongo this season as he has the cap room for both goalies. The longer the season drags on, the longer the list of teams Luongo will goto will grow. Also the longer this goes on the bottom feeding teams will have more pressure on them to make a big move.
Id draw u a picture but Im pretty sure u wouldn't even understand that. Go back to the sewers or wherever it is you crawled up from |

IF, and thats a strong if, the hawks fan base is obviously going to have a poope storm of epic proportions. He will get made fun of, the news will make fun of it and ask why the hawks management would do it blah blah blah, but in the end he will succeed. He will be forgotten from the "worst trade of the year" spotlight and into the "we could actually contend for a cup" spotlight. I believe he would love it here and he would grow on the hawks fan base. I mean the "average fan" didn't understand why we "traded" away half the team after we won the cup... the average fan is basically an idiot that jumped on the bandwagon in 2009 and jumped off last year haha. I think once the hawks get a couple chinks in the chain out (steady hitting D-man, Powerforward second line center, and goalie) the hawks fan base will not care who is in net as long as we win. Which, with crawford, we cant. oh yeah and throw crawford into our side of the deal.. i dont want him in a hog or Indian sweater.. |

What do you think Gillis would have to have? a couple decent picks. like 3-5, maybe some decent looking prospects? or would he have to have a surefire pick and a great prospect? |

Personally I don't understand why they wanna move Loluongo anyhow. You win back to back President's trophies with him, he took you to within one win of a Stanley Cup, and you are gonna trade him to go with an unproven goalie who couldn't win you one game in the play-offs last year.
You guys didn't lose game 7 cause of Loluongo, you guys lost cause you were beat up, outta gas and couldn't get one past Thomas. |

It will be interesting to see what he actually fetches. From one standpoint you can think he gets nothing because of his contract. On the other hand his regular season #'s are pretty solid and consistent. ridiculous long and expensive contracts seem to be the norm and lus is not that extreme compared to some.
Personally id be happy with a 2nd round pick and lose the contract. Im thinking gillis is going to a nhl ready prospect and a first. And he'll probably get it because gms will get desperate. Most gms on the bubble could care less about 5 years from now, they are looking to keep their job now. And many teams have the cap room so why not? |

It is not out of the question that this could be a three team trade.
As for me... as long as we get Nash and Doan for nothing, they sign for minimum and Burke self-implodes into a million little bunny-farts, I will be happy. |
