Well if we can get luongo cheap who is already a proven goaltender.... then scrivens can be used as trade-bait. Reimer has shown signs of promosing brilliance in the nhl, scrivens has not. We no nothing of scrivens and how he can handle the nhl. Alot of goalies dominate the ahl or younger leagues but cant handle the nhl. Its a different ball game and i get yeah he deserves a shot scenario but your best bet if we did acquire luongo is to give some games to both reimer and scrivens and if they accumulate trade value then trade one of them away...
- Mapleleafs_91

In all fairness scrivens hasn't had his shot yet, he needs to know he can win the job and not just fill in until someone gets better.... And if you get Luongo and trade scrivens his value is zero right now

And the bonus is, Kipper is already used to Dion screening him on point shots

I think it is a better fit than Luongo if he goes on the block, for a much shorter contract and IMO slightly better goaltending.
If things go bad early, I would expect Kipper to move before Iginla, since Irving is close. I'd like to see him on a Toronto or a Winnipeg team more than some others.

I believe washington would be the best team to trade guys like an iggy or kipper too. I wanna see ovie win a cup eventually
- Mapleleafs_91

I'm not sure what the Caps have that would entice Feaster into making a deal there (not that I'm accusing them of not having anything, I just don't know their team that well).

When you look at the goalie prospect ratings and such Scrivens doesn't rank very high. Most hockey people(not saying all) don't see him as a strong NHL goalie.
Another scenerio to consider is the kids playig d for the leafs. Its tough to have guys like Gardiner who are going to have the share of mistakes as every young d does. A goalie who lets them mistakes in quite often is going to kill the young d confidense

But you do know burkes intentions are to acquire luongo cheaply if not he will run with scrivens and reimer if he has to though if the chance arises to acquire luongo for the right price, burke will pull the trigger..

Goalie market is horrible this year, no good Free Agents and price of a trade is too high, rather see us try for a #1 Centre and try and build two lines that can score (that doesn't mean break the bank for Bobby Ryan or Nash or whomever, it means a Marleau type of player and contract)

so that means one of scrivens or reimer will remain in the ahl or be used as trade bait

Reimer has a 1 way and scrivens is ready for nhl in some capacity... So means if luongo comes we lose scrivens and try to develop someone down under

I think a good deal could be had between Toronto and Calgary (for once). Toronto could put together an enticing package of picks and/or prospects and a role player. Something like Kulemin's rights, a second round pick, a conditional pick, and maybe Holzer/Blackier. Depends on what positional needs Feaster would be targetting.

Answers a lot of the questions about why Toronto is so horrible at developing prospects

I would blow my load all over the ACC if Kipper became a Leaf.

You and me both. How long has it been since a Maple Leaf netminder has stolen a win for the home crowd?
